(Lol before you spazz, it's an RP. I'm Axel she's Roxas they're engaged and Roxas just decided that he wants to go ahead and get married right now.)

This seemed to at least lessen his fears, though not altogether banish them. He smiled softly and hugged her.

Tifa then blushed and pulled away, rubbing the back of her neck as she cleared her throat. However, as she looked away, that small smile still lingered on her face.

"You need rest Cloud," she spoke firmly, that lecturing tone of hers evident in her voice.
She looked at him with bright crimson eyes.
"When was the last time you slept? I remember that you came in late a few nights ago from your delivery to Wutai and you haven't slept since."

He rolled his eyes, "Tifa I'm fine. I'm wide awake okay? I couldn't sleep if I tried," he sighed, exasperation evident in his tone.

"You've had the nightmares too..?" she asked in a much gentler voice.

Tifa looked at him for a moment and nodded.
"I've been having the nightmares too, Cloud..." She gazed at him, a very thin layer of tears making her eyes glisten.
"They're never going to stop...and those memories will always be with us, no matter how much we don't want them to."

(Hey Leslie, I'm gonna finally make my own cosplay for Anime Appreciation Week!)

"Cloud..," she murmured softly and moved close to him.
She took one of his hands in both of hers, eyes gazing at him without judgement. It was times like these that she knew that she just needed to be there for him like he was with her.
"We've all lost someone. I...I knew that there was something I could have done also..."
Like keeping you from going after Kadaj that day.., she thought with hate towards herself. But self-pity wasn't going to undo the memories.
"But things happen for a reason. And those things might be cruel and those things might break us down for reasons unknown...but they happen and sometimes we can't stop it. I'm not sure why the lifestream took them away from us but you and I both know that maybe it was for the best, so they could continue their legacy because theirs ended here."

He took a deep breath, "But it was my fault that Zack was killed. If he hadn't been protecting me-if he'd left me there to fend for myself-maybe he'd still be here." he took a deep breath, sighing. "If I'd pushed myself harder-been stronger- maybe just maybe I could've saved him..."

"Cloud, Zack was doing what any friend would do. I'd do that for you. Yuffie would, Barrett would, Cid would. There was a reason Zack's death came to be but it wasn't because of you. This I know for a fact," she spoke softly.
"And if he didn't protect you...you wouldn't be here..."
Her voice choked up and the tears in her eyes grew larger.
Life without Cloud was something she couldn't imagine, whether she had the feelings for him or not. He was her childhood friend and when he left their little hometown of Nibelheim to join SOLDIER, he became her motivation to grow stronger. She missed seeing him across the way from her tiny home, sitting alone in his room, but it only pushed her to become just as strong as he was now.
He still pushed her.
And the thought of him gone and captured by the lifestream brought such sorrow to her locked heart.

He stood, prowling and pacing, "I just...I wish he was here now, because I don't know what to do or how to go forward from her. I just...I need his advice." he never really talked about how close he and Zack had been. About how all the other SOLDIERS would pick on him and call him names like "Tranny" and "Fag" just because he looked a little more feminine that them. Just because he wasn't smelly and sweaty and disgusting all the time. He sighed, "I know it's been years Tifa, but when I left, he was really the only friend that I had...he...he helped me get over all that happened before to realize that sometimes, it's okay to follow rules. He also taught me that sometimes I have to break the rules to do what's right. He taught me to defend my honor."

Tifa nodded, holding back the tears because she couldn't break down; not now, not when he was so upset.
"I know, Cloud...And you've carried his legacy ever since."
She bit her lip and looked down, deciding to end the coversation there because what else could she say? That she understood?
Yeah, she broke rules and yeah, she defended her honor but she hadn't been experimented on. She didn't go through the pain of the Mako and lose however many years of her life.
So she didn't understand.
She was trying to.
A tear coursed down her cheek slowly.
"I'm sorry that he died, Cloud. I'm sorry that Aerith died...I could have pushed her out of the way. I was close enough. I could have reached her in time."
"And while that means I would have died, maybe it would have been for the greater good."

Cloud's eyes were wide as he stopped.
He'd never meant to make Tifa feel as if it was her fault Aerith was dead, in fact, the very idea of such seems absurd to him, so hearing her talk like that, he felt his chest ache.
"Tifa..." he said, looking at her and taking her hand, "Don't talk like that."

"How can I not?" she whispered hoarsely, feeling more of the tears beginning to trickle down.
She kept her head bowed in what seemed to be shame.
Cloud wasn't the only one who wanted redemption and forgiveness,
She wanted it too; and not from just one person. She wanted it from their band of friends. She wanted it from every one she had ever caused pain to because, at the end of the day, she could have saved Aerith.
And that one moment of hesitation to see just who's blade it was costed the healer her life.
"And then you died...Because I didn't stop you. I didn't go with you to help."
It was then that she looked up at him, eyes glossy and tears trickling down smoothly.
The last time he had seen her cry, and not from pain but from pure emotion, was when her father was murdered by Sephiroth back in Nibelheim.
