Re: Rebels in the dark
Hamlet bowed to them before following the assistant, his mind wandering to other places. He was trying to think how they were going to fake his death. His master was a snoopy one, she would look into it before getting a new slave.

Re: Rebels in the dark
A present? For him?
Trevor had never heard that before. It as only when the rats left little "presents" for him when he got to handle them.
Miss Emma really treated him well.
With a quick nod, the Grink continued back down the stairs with the new new friend in tow. The old office was near right at the back of the building, next to the room with all of the beds. Though it was relatively large, it was filled to the brim with papers and the like. Trevor had been in there only a few times, especially when it was in use. From memory, however, he could remember the cot in the corner.
And if it was good enough for Emma, it would be good enough for the new new friend.
Reaching into his trouser pocket, the alien produced a ring of keys, quickly picking out the correct one for the door in front of him, the one that lead to the office. Opening it, he stepped inside, mentally sighing to see the mess.
He had even more work to do. No matter. He thrived on it.
Toddling inside, pushing past the boxes of stuff to be burnt, Trevor reached the cot. He placed his present on the side and began to pile the boxes in the other corner, the ones which were on the bed.
After it was clear, the Grink turned and nodded at the new new friend before pointing at the cleared space.
Grabbing his chalkboard, he wrote down the same thing as he did for the new friend: rest.
Yes, with the backwards 'e'.
Speaking of the new friend...
With a nod to the new new friend, Trevor left to go find him, only to see him fast asleep. It seemed that they would have to be introduced later.
Adjusting his tie at the top of his neck, Aid gave a sigh, eyeing up the door to the shop in front of him. What was he doing there?
Well, in his top pocket he hid the payment for Riley, the one which he would have given to his main man, the one who normally read over his sums. Well, there was about a third of the amount which he was normally charged.
What that girl didn't know couldn't hurt her. Aid was a business man after all.
The problem was, because he went to someone else, his normal equation-checker would probably throw a fit and refuse to help him again. He couldn't hide it from him, either.
The pretty face fooled him again.
Entering the shop, he gave a smile, confidently walking through until the counter where, of course, he hit the bell again.
The only problem was, he didn't realise the dusty footprint was still pretty prominent on chest.

Re: Rebels in the dark
Josh woke up and began looking around for the Trevor guy. He noticed him starting to walk away. "Wait! Is there anything I can help with?" He sat up and started walking over to him. Josh was used to working on two hour of sleep so he was fine on ten minutes of sleep too.

Re: Rebels in the dark
Emma ran a hand through her hair, smiling to herself, hoping that Trevor would enjoy his gift. He made everything happen, she just said the orders. He made them happen.
She made a mental list of her new needs;
more beds, a body, dna samples, and a few new customers. She was lucky that each item she sold was of good value, keeping her profits good, and she also had some faceless backers who funneled her money. They were the type to support Nemesis but were in the social standing that prevented them from aiding the cause, they were the wallets that happened to drop on doorsteps.
There were gaps between the lovely little donations and that made for an uncomfortable Emma.
She couldn't say no but that left too many problems after.
Riley's head perked up at the bell and she skipped back up to the front, rubbing oil off her face and hands quickly.
It wasn't completely effective, and a few splotches of it was smeared across her smiling cheeks as she greeted to customer, not really looking at them as she went to turn on the register.
"Hi, there, Welcome to Ricky's, how may I assist you... oh, you.. Hi.. Are you here for the finished equations?" She finished looking up at him with mild surprise.
She didn't think he'd actually be back.
Her forehead crinkled lightly at the dust print on his chest, a high heel, and she blushed lightly; her mind travelling off to all the possibilities that that could have appeared.

Re: Rebels in the dark
Hamlet sat on the cot, something he had only had twice in his life. Blinking, he was still in a daze, he lay down and sighed. Not knowing what to do because he was unable to rest.

Re: Rebels in the dark
Trevor jumped at the sound of the new friend's voice. He had accidentally woke him up, hadn't he?
The Grink could have frowned.
But at least that sped things up for him.
Waving his hands, he began to try and coax the new friend over, to follow him into the other room. He pointed to the door before walking through it, hoping that he understood what he was trying to get at.
Either way, he began to toddle back to Emma's old office, giving a nod to the new new friend before grabbing his chalkboard.
"Meet" he wrote on it, with both of the 'e's backwards, of course.
He just hoped that the new friend was behind him.
The young man gave a smile as the girl emerged from the darkness of the back of the shop. Though she was covered in oil.
"Yes, thanks," he nodded, leaning on the counter, "If you're done, that is."
If so she was a lot quicker than his old man. He often had to be left for a good few of hours and he had hardly even been one. That would be very handy for him.
However, he caught her eyes drifting down to his chest, where the Emma's dusty footprint stood proud on his front. Inwardly, he grimaced, trying to dust it off again with his hand with no avail.
He would have to charge her for his dry cleaning.

Josh followed him to the door. His "meet" sign making him smirk a little. The backwards Es reminded him of his little sister whom he hadn't seen since all this mess started.

Emma: doing her thang
Riley bit the inside of her cheek and lifted the partition to lead him back to where she had all the equations finished. She gave a lame gesture to the screen whilst still wiping off her hands, the rag seeming to do very little.
"Well.. there they are.. Uhh.. you can just recheck them and then upload them to your Avi... Unless you want me to check anything else." She finished with a grin.

Re: Rebels in the dark
Hamlet looked up when the door opened, standing up and bowing automatically. It was a habit, a habit he was probably never going to break in his opinion. " Hello." he said solemnly, as if lamenting about things.

Re: Rebels in the dark
Walking out the back to the big screen, the young man gave a small sigh. The smell of oil was thick in the air. He loved it. It reminded him of his childhood, back when he spent all day tinkering with technology randomly instead of watching over everyone doing it.
But the sums seemed good enough.
Aid shook his head, "Sadly not at the moment, however, if this one works then I might have to consider your expertise for my new invention."
He gave a small laugh, dropping his Avi into the cradle to upload the modifications onto it. Within seconds they had moved onto his little ring, giving a nice little ring as it did.
And he made sure to delete them from the screen's memory.
Turning to the mechanic, he gave her a nod, "So, Miss Riley, I guess I shall see you around, no?"
Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out the HoverDisks he had used to move package earlier. He took a hold of her hand and pushed the roll of them into her palm.
"Call it payment."
Trevor nodded back to the new new friend, showing him the chalkboard with the word "meet" on it before pointing to the new friend who entered the office just behind him.
All he had to do was organise the bath and he would be up to date with what Emma had requested of him.
Slipping to the back of the room, the Grink finally ripped open the top of his envelope, curious as to what Emma could have gotten him.
He couldn't believe it when he saw what was inside.
It was an invention he had seen many times before. Why? Because the daughter of the Lord he served was deaf. It would speak for him.
Typing in the buttons, Trevor began go test a few words.
"New friend."
The Grink could have laughed! It was brilliant! His feet did a little jig as he typed in more and more words.
"Meet."
"Miss Emma."
"Hello, my name is Trevor."
Thank you, Miss Emma. This is the best thing anyone has ever given me.
Hell, it was the only thing anyone had given him.
But the sums seemed good enough.

Josh looked around the room before offering his hand out to the guy to shake. "Hi I'm.... Ben." Most escaped slaves had their real names out there along with the word WANTED. Josh didn't want anyone to know his real name yet. Not until he felt completely safe.

Re: Rebels in the dark
Emma grinned at the Grink's chirpy message, pleased that he liked her gift.
No problem, Trevor, sweetie, I thought it might make things a bit easier for you..
She dusted off her skirt and flipped the store's sign to closed, locking everything up so she could go work in her other business. She practically ran the north side of Nemesis, the western quarter at least, and it didn't include simply her little hide away, oh no. It was much more than that.
She ran three separate refugee establishments in the city, each with their own appointed keeper which she managed. On top of that she also had to deal with coroners (bribe them for bodies so jobs could go easier), law men ( she had to get her people out into the work force without trouble), and certain shady black market shops for supplies.
She loved it.
She loved the excitement and the danger, her father had worried about that side of her when he was alive but it did give her an edge on her opponents.
She sighed as she descended the stairs, it was also a ton of work.
And she had just given up her office.
Fantastic.
Riley stared at the hover pads, barely suppressing the urge to drool. They cost more than she made in a year.
They weren't even out yet.
She took them tentatively from his hand with a wide smile, never did she think her day would go this well.
And, in a last minute decision clouded by unadultured glee, she threw her arms around him in a tight hug of appreciation.
"Whenever..Whatever you need, you're welcome here." She responded finally, letting him go.
She hugged the pads to her chest like a child would for a teddy bear, then blushed.
She may have transferred a bit of oil onto his pristine, other than the shoe print, suit.
"Sorry.. "She finished, looking down bashfully.

Re: Rebels in the dark
" Hamlet." was all he said in response, generally he was a cold person but now, since he was being lied to and knew it, he was colder than an iceberg. Bowing he blinked, his eyes seeming to be in another land. Since Hamlet wasn't his real name and no one he served ever bothered to learn the name he adopted he would be safe for now. Hamlet was hoping that faking his death would begin quickly so he could feel safe at last. Safe after eleven years.

Re: Rebels in the dark
Trevor watched the two interact in front of him. To be honest, it was very typical. When you were a slave, an offer of freedom was unheard of so you didn't know who you could trust. The Grink was exactly the same. It was only with Mr. Fletcher's help that he became comfortable there.
"Safe here. Relax," he typed into his CCSpeak, the little computer he had been given.
It was certainly a lot easier than drawing on his chalkboard.
Aid knew that it would have been a good payment. He saw how her eyes sparkled when he pulled them out earlier. It seemed relevant.
Either way, he had another set spare at his office.
But then she hugged him.
A greasy lower class mechanic dared to touch him, an upper-middle class son of one of the richest men in the country.
The happiness must have made a screw loose. It was a good thing he didn't act like the rest of them.
"It's fine," he mumbled, dusting off the oil on his lapel.
That wasn't going to come out easily. No matter. He could afford it.
"Certainly, next time I need my work checking over, you'll be considered first."
He certainly wished that her offer didn't end at the sum-checking, though.

((aww, okay bb, laterz <3))
Emma does her thang
Riley practically glowed, lady luck was certainly in her favor today. She grinned at him again, biting her lip to keep it from becoming too wide. He seemed a tad bit put off though, but then again she, a lowly mechanic, hugged him after getting a guarantee to work with him in the future.
And pretty frickin' awesome tech.
"Thanks.. Thank you so much! You have no idea.. how much.. how much this means to me.. I.. how can I thank you?" She asked with wide eyes.
In the back of her mind there was a dark little voice, the fantasy voice, that was suggesting dark little things she could do to repay him. Her practical side brushed it off with offers of home-cooked meals and free repairs, there were few things she could do for him.
The man had pretty much everything.

(I don't really know what to do with Trev -.-)
How can I thank you?
Aid had to clear his throat as those dirty little thoughts ran through his mind. He hated it when that happened. When things were meant to be innocent...
What could he say? He was used to getting what he wanted.
"Just as long as you do it quickly and correctly then there's no need. Of course, you can't tell anyone, though it might be suspicious of you to suddenly be walking around with a lot of cash from a rather ill-paying job... No offence."
He was trying to be nice about what he was saying, though, by the end, Aid just felt as though he was being patronizing to her. Well, he kind of had a right to. He was the customer. He was always right.

Re: Rebels in the dark
(lemme get something going)
Emma let out a sigh as she went through her notes, frowning. She may need to speed up her rehabilitation program for the refugees, considering the spike in government protective procedures that were going around. Plus various other heads in Nemesis were planning small rebellions in their stations, not near enough to home bases to cause more suspicion and get their refugee's in trouble but they were still risky. They made Emma grimace and wonder what sort of measure she should be doing.
She clicked the call button on her Avi to summon Trevor from his duties, she needed him. There were patrols she needed to deal with and other plans to create.
Her head was so messy at times.
Perhaps she could use her new 'gee.
('gee is refferring to refugee)
Riley laughed lightly but it turned into a dark chuckle. Oh yeah, a pretty young thing like her shouldn't be advertising the fact that she had gotten a wad of cash. There was no other way that female could find herself a lot of money in a little bit of time.
No way at all.
Not as a mechanic anyway.
"I get it... my tiny little shop doesn't get much traffic flow.. but if anyone asks I can just tell them that a girl's gotta eat..." She said with a shrug and... perhaps a wink.
It might have been a wink, or may have been the light.
Anywho, it wasn't uncommon for a working class woman to go into dark alleys or find herself dancing with little cloth on her body for money. Times were hard and she was lucky.
"And I do my jobs as best as I can, I'll have you know.. especially for someone... in such an ill-paying job as I."Riley added with a sarcastic smirk.
She had no shame for her work, and she knew she was pushing it a bit considered she was completely indebted to him, but hey. There was always time for Sass.
