Now imagine that you snapped. What would you do? Scream? Run away? Let's say you did run away. You heard about a place kids could go to just...figure things out. Nobody was expected to support anyone else. You could just...be you for a moment. Paradise?

Alex walked down the hall, a real smile on her face for the first time in so long that she couldn't remember. She strolled through the halls, happily dressed the way she wanted.

Maryana kept still, on that small tree branch that could break at any moment. She sat there, staring into the open, hoping she wasn't seen.

Alexa wandered into the courtyard happily in her dark gothic style gown, plenty of black and purple make up on.

Maryana smiled. She was there. Wearing her usual of black teeshirt and skinny jeans. She closed her eyes, glad to be rid of the colors, of the judgements. No more people looking in fear. No more can her grandparents ask to see her arms to check for cuts. No more worrying about doing something wrong. Just nothing. And then she heard the branch snap.

Alexa heard a branch snap and looked up to see a girl falling from a tree, cursing under her breath, she raced over, just in time to catch the girl, but the force made her feet slip from under her on the wet grass and the next thing she knew she was staring up at the sky.

Maryana got up quickly. "Oh, I am so sorry! I didn't mean for this to happen!" Looking at the branch and then the girl and then the branch again. "Oh goth... I am such an idiot! Are you ok?"

She smiled, standing up, "It's no problem, I'm the one that ran under the branch. You're okay, right?"

She looked around herself. "Just a skinned knee. What about you? I am soo sorry. I shouldn't have been up there."

"Oh, I'm fine," she assured her, "Zeus had my back, even if Athena deserted me."

"Please forgive me. I had no idea." Maryana took a deep breath. "Here let me help you up." She held out her hand

She laughed, "Of course you didn't. I ran under there after you fell. If I hadn't caught you, you'd probably have broken something," she said cheerily, holding out her hand. "Name's Alex." she said, "Just Alex."

"Maryana..." She helped her up. "Just plain Maryana"

She smiled, "Long name."

"I don't have any nicknames. So my name is pretty long. My parents were...well, they were pretty proper and such..." She sighed, a bit embaressed.

She laughed, "Oh I know the feeling. It. Sucks. Ass." she said, "That's why I left."

She nodded, "Same here."

She smiled, "I can see we're going to be great friends, Maryane." she said softly, "So do you want to hang out or what?"

Maryana smiled. "I'd love to hang out." She turned to the tree and sighed. "Well, I really have no place to go truly. So do you mind if I follow you for a while?" She asked shyly

Alexa laughed, "Follolw me sure. I was just wandering aimlessly around because for once, I have no one needing my to be their shoulder to cry on. Their 'cristian saint' or the one they confide their troubles in."

"I'm sorry if that's what happened." Maryana said. "But it's today. And today I made a friend, which is more than I have ever made. So I think it was a good day."

She smiled and nodded, "Apollo has smiled upon this day," he said, "Even though in truth, it's Thor's Day. (Thursday was named for Thor's Day.)"
