(Yep- perhaps could you specify if he know about Nemisis or any of the affiliated partners to it, like is he totally unrelated to any of the other characters? Or has he been into one of the shops or such, like bringing some of the royal woman's technology to be repaired or what not- Btw he's a very interesting character, if you read through the last few posts it might help when trying to place him in the chat, we have an order going about- Open- Leilani- me, so if you'd like to go after me and we do it like that, we could work you in that way- kay?)

(( Sounds, good! I'll edit his history to include him going into the shops and such! I'd like him to know about Nemesis, so I'll work that in there!))

Hamlet bowed to his Master, a tall lanky lady who loved to dress eccentrically but had only a few servants. She was usually a nice lady but had a short fuse and a nack to get violent, usually she did this to Hamlet who insisted she take it out on him, he was stronger than the other servants despite not talking, or looking at any of them.
" Hamlet, go fetch me new books, ask for new ones and a few that are antique and such. If I don't like the selections tell the store manager that I will be disappointed in her, and we don't want that happening." Her voice rang in his head, he knew what would happen and he never looked forward to it.
" Yes Master." was all he mumbled before turning and leaving to his room he shared with the other servants. Pulling on the clothes she ordered him to wear when he goes out he hid his face in the large collar and left the house.
Walking along the streets he tried to ignore the stares and gestures, picking up some of the words the people in the street hissed towards him.
" Oh, its a slave, don't look at him, he's filthy."
" His face,"
More whispered words met his ears and he closed his eyes, arriving quickly at the book store and knocking on the door, bowing before anyone even came to the door.

(( Does that work? I read through the posts and I think this is a good jump in...?))

One: It's probably a bit late now, Booki, but *hug*
Two: Gifty, that's probably one of the most longest and detailed histories I have ever read! But really its Aid's dad who owns the factory/shop/warehouse (think BIG scale) and he works in designing... We can work it out Razz
Three: ~ I'm back ~ and thanks for waiting Very Happy

Aid gave a small smirk as he looked back at the tiny bot. By the looks of it, she had done a few little modifications from the original design, for example, the material used for her wings was a lot more up-to-date. But it was certainly a blast from the past for him.
"It was the first bot I designed," he murmured, nostalgia filling his every cell, "The first of many."
However, he couldn't focus on little Delilah. No, he had his new invention to think of. And although he hated his father, he did agree with his company's motto: Forever Looking Forward.
What was the point in dwelling in the past?
"Doing all right?" he asked, returning back to the huge screen, "Hopefully they're not too off."

If Trevor could smile, he was sure that he would. Emma as of late had given him quite a few compliments, and being called "a sweetie" was up there as being his favourite.
Taking the medical gear from the new friend, he slowly began to walk out to the back, ducking beneath the wooden beams and through the tiny slot in the wall, all until he reached the collection of beds, all in one large room. Some people sat around, playing cards, smoking some sort of substance whilst others we busy doing paperwork, the ones which could be trusted. He crept forward, making sure that the new friend was behind him through the crowd, sure that everyone was watching. However, as he reached the first empty bed, he stopped next to it and motioned towards it with his head. He better of got what he meant from that.
Of course. Be careful not to wound them too much this time.

Josh looked at the bed. He guessed that the Trevor guy was telling him that it was his. He continued to hide his face but put his bag under the bed. He swore he'd seen this guy before while he was a slave.

Riley's eyes widened in little mixed pools of lust, awe and surprise. She knew that she had a bigwig in her store, one who designed bots due to this little venture, but she had no idea she was sitting with the son and only heir of one of the biggest companies in north side. He was practically royalty to the world of mechanics and tech heads alike.
She almost drooled.
He had everything, anything he needed to build anything he had no need to fix old ladies' security systems nor their old style phones, practically antiques now. He had the wealth the mind to be revolutionary.
Riley had to shake her head and bring herself back into the moment, attempt to fix his design, and felt an odd sort of satisfaction that she, a lowly little mechshop worker, was helping him.
"Not too much, just a wrong equation here and a few little mistakes here and there.. no trouble.. much easier to tell on the big screen."She replied, pulling the equations off the wide screen and onto a personal board, pointing at the various spots with a pink stylus.
"Name's Lucy by the way.. nice ta meet cha.."

Emily grimaced as her Avi vibrated, noting her of a customer, and turned swiftly to dart away slipping her clip board back into it's little slot. This had better be the damn agent with her damn shipment!
She frowned lightly as she saw that, in fact, no, it wasn't her agent but a rather dirty man standing with his head bowed in her doorway.
She rushed forward, a frown still on her face, unsure of what he was here for.
"Yes? May I help you? I apologize for not coming sooner, but I was checking my stock in back....Are you alright?" She added, quietly after.
She had yet to see his face, but from his hair alone she could tell he was probably a slave, not a well taken care of one at that.

" Yes ma'am I am fine, my Master has come to order books, she requires new books in stock and some antiques." Hamlet said coldly, straightening and turning his head slightly so that she didn't have to see most of the gruesome scars, he was always trying to hide his face from those of upper class. He thought they were privileged thus not used to seeing such horrible thing in life, the bruises on his face, arms, and neck were also something that stood out on his skin. His master was fairly well know and her slaves, as they were the ones to go out on her errands, were as well. Hamlet was well known due to his nature and appearance.

(Gifty, no problems! No need to apologise Very Happy
BookBook, It's Riley and Emma in this chat, dear Razz
And having a character who can't speak is difficult, I'm beginning to find, hehe).

He knew that he shouldn't have said anything.
He could see the look in her eye as she worked out who he was. It was the same with almost every gear-head, male or female. Then they all fell on him, wishing for gifts or help or working 50/50 on a new invention though he would have to fund it all. It irritated him and very few people could look at him straight in the eye and be honest with him after that; they always feel too scared to point out the flaws.
That's why he could no longer use Riley again.
"Good. I'd hate to be shown up in front of you," he murmured with a sigh, "The name's Aid, Aid Cole."
There was no point in hiding the family name. Not any more.
He had to admit, though. Having a girl mechanic all crazy-eyed was rather nice. Especially one so... He didn't know what. She seemed a bit spunky for one so small.
It was unfortunate that he had to leave, then, the buzzing of his Avi reminding him of where he should have been, not chatting about mechanics.
"Thanks for that. You saved me a few hundred," he nodded, standing, "I have to dash. I have a feeling that my head will be mounted above a fireplace soon."
And Aid wasn't joking. He had seen a person who had failed to get a package to Emma on time get thrown off of a bridge once. His body was never discovered again. He didn't want to go down the same way, even if he was who he was.
Picking up his Avi from the pouch, he slipped it back onto his finger and sighed. Still, he would need to pay her, but she didn't know how much he usually paid people to proof-read his stuff. That was certainly very handy.
"I'll be back later," he murmured, running a hand through his hair to neaten it back up, "Good."
And with that, Aid ran out, grabbed the package and quick-walked his way back as unsuspiciously as possible.

Trevor rolled his big blue eyes as the new friend kept on fiddling with his hair. Many people were in his position and acted similarly when they first came in, but it never took long for them to realise that they were in the safest place possible, that they weren't going to get caught. Masters could easily replace them.
Trevor knew that well.
With what seemed like a sigh, the Grink walked away and found the storage vicinity for the medical supplies, all to give the new friend some time to adjust.

As Trevor walked away Josh slowly started to relax. He sat on the bed and looked around. It would take some time for him to adjust to his new "home". He wanted to know what he could do to help around here though. Working was in his blood and he didn't want to be dead weight. So he laid back in the bed and waited for the alien to come back while trying not to fall asleep.

(school is killing the remaining brain cells I have left)
(Also, perhaps Emma bought him a cheap tech he can write on and project the words in a voice.. hmmm?)

Emma bit her lip and nodded, quickly fetching a few of her older collections for him to decide upon as she studied him a little closer. She held back her need to move his hair and physically check him like she did with the fellow earlier, for fear he'd run away.
She was sure she'd seen him before, knew his master vaguely, but she never got a good look. Now that she did she was between rampaging out with a shout of 'REVOLUTION' and pulling him into a suffocating hug whilst promising him everything would be okay, and no one will harm him anymore, no one harms her babies.
Her maternal instincts always caused problems.
A slight frown graced her features and she quickly printed on of her..'business' cards.
It was more like a tiny sheet of card stock, rather old fashioned, that stated that she was a Nemesis agent and would take him in if he so wanted refuge.
Trevor would be on her ass about lack of beds, but she was never one to deny someone help. Unless they were evil.
Then she'd shoot the bastards herself.
She slipped the card onto the counter in front of one of the books she'd displayed for him and took a step back to give him space.
Would he accept her help?

Riley sighed as the man ran off, taking his fantastical notes and gadgets with him.
What a life.
Yet, he worked for Nemesis, which was an interesting little factoid that she'd never expect. Why would one, so privileged, join a force that fought to disrupt the very power that made him so rich? Curious.
She tutted to herself, that was none of her business, and returned to the diagrams left on her screen.
She might as well correct it all while she waited for his return, like he promised.
She might as well gain a little more cash, she had her eye on a lovely new little tool set and mama needed a bit more moolah if she was gonna buy it.

Hamlet saw the card, despite all the scars he could still see very well from one eye the other being to badly scared to really see much anymore, 'Nemesis' he read and held back a gasp.
Were they really offering him a way to finally escape slavery? He knew he had always wanted a way out but after the time he was caught he had never tried to escape again. His fear of getting caught was to great.
Unintentionally he nodded his head, the muscles moving on their own for he knew his master could get more slaves, the voice in his head telling him not to because she would beat the other slaves if he wasn't there. Another voice telling him this is what he has yearned for since he was six years old.
" Nemesis." he trailed off for a second before coming back to the present, " Can I really escape this time?" he asked her but the question was more for himself.

Rebels in the dark - Page 3 Empty Re: Rebels in the dark

Post by OpenTheDoor Sun Sep 08, 2013 6:15 pm

Aid literally burst into the shop, his face as bright red as the silk lining of his suit jacket. Fortunately there was an empty street so he could leg it down there so that he wasn't any later than he was with the crate in tow behind him.
He was just glad that there was a witness there in case she did kill him.
"I'll go put this over here..." he murmured, tugging the package and shoving it in the corner, "And I'll leave..."
But he was sure he had seen that slave before. He had picked up machinery in his father's shop once. When he was sent there to check up on proceedings, he was standing there, scars brighter than the Sun, frown as bleak as coal, muttering his thanks.
He would have thrown him some bread if the other employees weren't there.

After dropping off the supplies, Trevor returned to meet his new friend carrying clean sheets for him to use. Emma never liked for the person to do work for the first day. They often needed their rest, to be fed, to be looked after before they were shoved straight into work as a free person.
Plopping down at the new friend's feet, the Grink motioned to his bed, tugging on the dirty sheets already on it.

Josh stood up and helped with the sheets on the bed. When they had finished, he turned towards him. "Is there anything I can do to help? I'm not one for sitting around and doing nothing." This Trevor guy seemed okay. He hadn't gone running to anyone and telling them who he was so Josh stopped being so walled towards him.

Emma paused her nodding and little chat with the man to turn her attention in the direction of her agent.
Her mood suddenly going from encouraging to outright fury.
"May I take a moment, please." She asked, excusing herself politely to then release her wrath upon Aid.
She grabbed his collar before he could skip off on his dandy way and pulled him back, not really noticing if she was choking him or not, though she hoped she was.
She dropped him on the ground and placed an expensively shoed foot onto his chest, carefully so he couldn't see up her skirt, and pushed down.
"Now, Aid, where have you been? I seem to have recalled telling you to drop off my shipment.. oh.. A few hours ago..isn't that right?" She said, her voice sickly sweet.
Her eyes told a different story.
She didn't let him start an apology before she tugged him back up by the collar, bringing him in close to her face for a snarl.
She was much stronger than she appeared.
"You're lucky you're needed alive. Don't. Make. Me. Wait. I thought I made this clear to you...You're also lucky that I have someone that I don't want to scare away just a few feet from us." She let him off with a solid punch to the chest and sent him on his merry way.
"Don't disappoint me next time." She called after him.
She stepped back, brushing dust off her clothes, out from the little cover she had taken so not to frighten the slave.
"So.. to answer your question, yes. Once and for all. We can fake your death and give you a new life..You can stay here, at my refuge for a while until you're settled into your new life, but don't expect the work here to be easy. We are all soldiers but at least we are not slaves." She finished, she was tempted to stroke his head but held back, calling Trevor up to assist her instead(mentally).

Hamlet smiled for the first time in years, " I can handle any work thrown at me," his voice was as monotoned as ever despite the smile and new found light in his eyes, " I'd be happy to do anything." he bowed a low bow, his long scraggly hair falling into his face once more. When he finished his bow he visibly relaxed, his shoulders falling forward, his smile falling into a neutral look, his eyes scrunching up in a way that showed how much pain he truly was in instead of holding back his true feelings. What the others couldn't see was the worst bruises or the places that were still bleeding due to all the work he had to do and not being able to rest for a while to bandage his wounds. Biting his lip carefully his mind began to race and he swayed slightly, as if he were to fall.
What about the others?
Was he just going to leave them there to fend for themselves with the Master?
Leave them to got hit and tortured if they accidentally put a vase of flowers an inch to the right instead of in the center as they were told to do.
He knew he needed to do this for himself yet he couldn't help but feel terribly guilty and swayed again, almost falling this time.

Rebels in the dark - Page 3 Empty Re: Rebels in the dark

Post by OpenTheDoor Sun Sep 08, 2013 7:30 pm

He wasn't quick enough.
Before he knew it, he was thrown onto the floor, peering up at a sweet-smiling dagger-throwing business owner. The high heel on her shoe was near enough digging into his lung. Aid was sure that it could have punctured if she she applied any more pressure.
"I understand, M," he choked out.
If any other person tried that with him, they would have been sorry. However, he knew that she could more than easily find way of getting revenge if even as dared to mutter a single comment in reply to what just happened.
Though she did just mark his nice new suit. His very expensive new suit.
Dusting himself off an readjusting his hair, the young man gave a sigh, watching as the slave muttered happily enough. Aid new well enough that she was running out of beds. He had seen it for himself when he was asked to fix a boiler in the back room after it blew up.
Reaching into his pocket, Aid produced an sealed envelope, all with just a small 'M' writted neatly on the front.
"And here's the tech that you wanted for your Grink friend," he murmured, placing it on the counter, "Forget the payment for it. Call it an apology."
It was a very simply thing. It was a small handheld device which read out whatever you typed into it. However, she requested it, he sourced it and got paid for it. Simple enough, really.
And with that, the business man skedaddled.

Trevor blinked a few times. He wasn't meant to help. He was meant to sit back down and maybe go to sleep.
The Grink shook his head, picking up his trusty portable chalkboard. As quickly as he could, although it wasn't that quick at all, he wrote down the word: rest.
Although the 'e' was backwards, he turned the board to face the new friend.
Then he, mentally frowned.
On my way, Miss Emma.
Putting the board down on the floor, Trevor gave the new friend a small nod before he toddled out to the front of the room, just in time to see the frowning businessman leave the shop front.

Emma gingerly placed a hand on his shoulder and smiled gently, it was always hard for them to leave the only thing they knew and everyone they knew behind.
"First of all, we're going to bathe you.. then.. we're going to stage your death.. and we'll see what happens next.." She murmured, mostly to herself as she rearranged her day to fit it in.
Then there was the conundrum of beds.
They were just going to have to remove her office, one that she barely used anyway, and place some beds in there.
Once Trevor made his ways up the stairs, Emma smiled and grabbed the little bag off the counter and thrust it at him.
"Here.. a little present for you, and.. I got another.. I know.. just put him in my old office for now.. I've got a little cot in there anyway, I'll have it cleared out later.. have him get to know the other new one..would you mind letting them know the ropes of the place? Oh.. this one needs a bath.. probably some medical attention as well.. I'll start ordering the new beds.. I'll.. I'll make some office space up here.." Emma said, all in one breath, her mind springing from thought to thought.
It was all so much to do, she hummed.

Rebels in the dark - Page 3 Empty Re: Rebels in the dark

Hamlet nodded numbly, his head spinning as she talked so fast that he couldn't blink afraid he wouldn't understand her. " I don't need to sleep on a bed if you don't have enough." he tried to interject without making her loose her train of thought. Looking to her assistant he blinked, his eyes cold and his face expressionless.

If Trevor had a Human mouth, he would have frowned. He could almost see the stress pouring off of her. Soon enough she would go grey, he thought. Most people at Nemesis did.
Nevertheless, he nodded, quickly looking over at the new new friend as he muttered about not needing a bed. Again, if Trevor could, he would have smiled.
Didn't he understand that Emma was in no way going to let him sleep without one. That wasn't her ethic.
In his head, he made a note of things which he would need to do, include running the bath and introducing the new friend to the new new friend.
Two new friends in one day. Plus the injured friend.
It was rather busy.
Even so, he couldn't say anything. He just had to get on with it.
Just say if you need me.
And with that, he motioned for the new Human to follow him into the back of the shop where Emma's office was.

Aid is walking to the shop.

Emma raised an eyebrow at her new refugee, daring him to repeat the statement and refuse her hospitality.
She had a thing about that.
If she didn't want someone to have something she wouldn't have offered it in the first place. "You will have a bed." She said in finality, turning to the books presented on the counter.
She had to pick out the cheapest one she was willing to make the fake death seem realistic, it pulled a pout onto her face on the impending doom of such a nice antique.
She turned suddenly when her fingers graced the package that Trevor had yet to take.
"Trevor! Wait, you forgot your present! For all your hard work.." She exclaimed with a little smile, taking a few steps forward to slip the package into his hands.
She winked at him and then turned to begin putting the books away, she really couldn't do half of the work she did currently without her handy second hand man.

Riley had left the now finished equations on the screen and left to repair the mech she had been working on earlier, sighing.
All the other guys were out for the weekend to a little convention.
Of course the youngest had to stay, no matter her interest her better qualifications, oh no. Plus the city was too dangerous for such a sweet little girl.
Pah.
Riley wondered, in the back of her mind with a little grin, if her rich friend would return. It made no difference to her, but it would alleviate some of this new found boredom that had dulled everything down.

Hamlet bowed to them before following the assistant, his mind wandering to other places. He was trying to think how they were going to fake his death. His master was a snoopy one, she would look into it before getting a new slave.
