Devin: "You're telling me..." I sighed, opening my eyes to look at her. "I've been here for years." my half smile faded as i solemned up.

Noah : "but it seems like a lot of fun. I mean...isnt this like every guys dream?"

Devin: "Maybe if you're not me." I mumbled, setting my cup down.

Noah : "what do you mean?" i asked, if it was everyone's idea of a dream why wasnt it his?

Devin: my hands turned to fists under the table. "Because everyone found their place here right away. and i still feel like i don't belong here. Not really anyway," I sighed, resting an elbow on the table and laying my chin in the palm of my hand.

Noah : wow i wouldn't have guessed that. I thought all the boys were best friends somehow. "Is it okay if i ask you how you joined then? I mean, Henry invited everyone to the club i know that but i mean,...why did you agree?"

Devin: I blinked at her. "I didn't have a choice. In the world today, you can't make a real living playing music. unless you're a prodigy or something," I roll my eyes, staring out the window. "It was my parents idea. I was 14 and I thought it would be fun. no parents, no worries. But everyone else seemed to know each other and i felt like the new kid at a school. i still do sometimes."

Noah : i couldn't help but laugh.

Devin: "yeah, nieve little me." I smirk softly, it was nice to here laughter around here that was genuine and not caused because someone was thick with alcohol.

Noah : i felt my cheeks grow hot. "wait" laugh " I'm " laugh "not" laugh laugh "Laughing at you" Snort-laugh. I covered my mouth and my blush became worse. I hated my laugh but i really couldn't change it.

Devin: I smiled wide at her, my teeth showing for the first time in a long while, "You have a cute laugh no wonder---" I stop talking, shaking my head and biting my bottom lip to keep my mouth closed.

Noah : i finally calmed down enough to finish what i was going to say. "i wasnt laughing at you, i was laughing at myself. I thought that when henry first invited me in...well no..the first thing i thought was that henry was a vampire but thats besides the point, anyway....wait...No wonder what?" i looked at him.

Devin: I couldn't hide my smile this time. "No wonder why all the guys like you so much." as soon as i had said that, i remembered my cello. i'd never put it away and my window was wide open. cold air has no mercy against wood instruments.
"I'll be right back." i stood up and started for the stairs.

Noah : i nodded, confused at what he meant. I mean, of course the guys liked me. We've spent more than enough time together to become good friends. Most of us at lest. I like them and they liked me. Friends do that right?

Devin: As i got up to my room, i stopped at my door. It was Neva Fray. she was staring out my window.
"Devin," you could hear the smile in her voice.
"Um, Nev, what are you..doing here...?" i asked.
she turned to look at me. her face was anything but smiling though.
"Your brother," her voice cracked at the end.
"He's.."
"Gone." she whispered.

Henry : i wiped the blood from my mouth. My father hadn't hit me that hard since i was four years old.
"Henry!" My grandmother shrieked, i saw her in the reflection of the bathroom mirror.
"Grandma? Oh, please don't cry" i frowned, going over to hug her. Her little fragile body was heaving with sobs. "I'm so sorry Henry...oh my little boy... y-your father is just...he loves you Henry please believe me hes just"
"It's okay grandma" i said gently, still hugging the little gray haired
woman.
She looked up at me and touched the side of my jaw up to my bloody lip. "He hit you again? Why...."
"I told him i loved him.." i smiled sadly. "He saw that my hair treatment is fading and i took of my contacts because they were hurting my eyes....i'll be fine."
"This is supposed to be Christmas....we're supposed to be happy...." Grandma cried.
I shook my head and shushed her, hugging her again. "We will be happy, grandma don't worry." i assured her, smiling. "Now i have to show you to the other half of my family, okay?"
Despite her sadness my grandmother nodded and i escorted her back to a limo home.

Devin: "What?" My mouth formed the words, but nothing came out. Then i noticed the dark clothes that Neva wore. she must've just come from the funeral.
she sighed, rubbing her eyes that had started to get red again.
"Yeah, the war hasn't been kind to us, has it." she smiled sadly, her lips trembling. Neva was my brother's wife's little sister.
"No, it hasn't." I looked down at my hands, wishing that i hadn't come up here. wishing that i'd stayed down stairs with Noah.

Noah : when Devin didn't come back i just assumed it was okay to go back to my own room and change. Don't get me wrong, i did like dressing like a guy but i was still very much a girl and i sometimes liked looking like it. I got rid of the boy-wig and combed through my hair, the curls bouncing a little at the ends but not anywhere else. After that i changed into one of the many dressed the guys had gotten me when i arrived. This one was ivory and flowed out a little at the ends. the material was flimsy and sparkling but still nice. I put on a cardi over it just in case and put on my contacts before heading back downstairs.

Devin: I walked over to her. "You have to leave, right now, Neva." I said quietly, pushing her towards the door.
"Don't make me leave!" she cried, tears dripping down her face, "They took the others. My sister, your parents--"
"What?" I hissed, "Who?"
She shrinks back, sitting down on my bed, "I don't know who. they're just...gone. like Colton." she looks out the window again.
"Fine. You can stay here tonight."
she looks back to me. "Thank you," she mouths. i close my door on her. I'm just too nice sometimes, i think as i head back downstairs.

I walked over to Devin's door. i could have sworn i heard a girls voice. I blushed and stopped before opening the door. If i thought i heard a girl...then i probably did.... ah, i blushed and turned the other way. What the guys did on their breaks was non of my business.

Devin: I walked out, freezing when i spot Noah walking away. "Noah?"

Henery :
"Is Mathew going to be there, Henry?" Grandma asked as i took her arm and lead her up the stone steps to the front door.
"I think he may be sleeping now but you will see him" I smiled, opening the door for her.
"Oh, how lovely the building looks" she smiled, walking in and taking in the first view in awe.

Noah : eh, i froze in place. "Um, hey Devin, Well you're busy with your special friend so i'll see you at dinner" i said, not turning and picking up the hem of my dress so i could hurry down stairs.

Devin: I stared after her. God, now she thinks i probably like the other guys. "Noah..." but i know it's a lost cause. oh well, i let out a sigh and frown. I guess i didn't have a chance anyway. wait, when did i start thinking like this? i leaned against the wall, wondering what was wrong with me. a lot of things, i tguess.
