Carissa: "Alright..." I felt myself go a little weak under my touch. "I do need to eat." Then I added quietly, "But so do you..."

[Charlie]

Damian-

I gulped again, "Right." Their went my plan, I was not going to be able to eat. I had no money, and she was not going to pay for me.

Carissa: I smiled slyly as a waitress came up. "What would you like to order?" She asked in a bored voice.

(What did they eat back then?)

[Charlie]

(your normal stuff... just not like fried chicken or things like that. But I mean lots of stuff, like eggs benedict, jello had been invented LOL, bread, soup...etc.)


Damian-

I flashed a white smile at the waitress, maybe I could flirt, and get a free meal. This could work.

Carissa: "We'll have one cup of tea and one coffee. And we'll have two bowls of the soup of the day. I don't care what it is." I said this all in a rush, the waitress hurriedly wrote the order down and left. "Sorry, I had to. I'm paying." I smiled guiltily. I desperately hoped he wouldn't be mad.

[Charlie]

Damian-

I nodded. I didn't mind her paying. But I knew I wouldn't eat much, but I would eat if fast. I wouldn't drink anything, coffee and tea was not my thing.

Carissa: "Thank you! I thought you would be mad... It'll be a while before our food comes. What do you want to talk about?"

[Charlie]

Damian-

I looked at the ceiling then back at her. "I could tell you about me." I suggested. Knowing full well how hard this would be for me.

Carissa: "Alright. Go ahead..." I smirked at him, wondering where this was going to go.

[Charlie]

Damian-

I sighed, and took a deep breath. I looked her directly in the eyes, "First, let me start by saying I don't know how old I am." I kept on going, "My parents died when I was really young, It was before my voice changed." I said trying to give her a clue to how young I was. "I was alone when they died, we had no other family, and we were poor. I was forced onto the streets." I paused wanting to know her reaction. Wanting to know if I should continue. Wanting to know if I could trust her.

Carissa: "Oh, I'm sorry... It must have been really hard."

[Charlie]

Damian-

I nodded, and continued, "For quite a while I lived on the streets, almost never getting food, and being treated badly by people passing by. The hunger was unbearable. It got really bad, it had been months since my last scrap of food." I paused, and swallowed, "I was starving to death, it started to rain. And I possible passed out or died." Another pause, "If it weren't for me best mate, I would be dead. He took me to his home, and slowly he and his family nursed me back to health." I stopped, I would mention my face, but I needed her reaction to this first. I needed to know I could completely trust her.

Carissa: "That's terrible. Nice of your friend to take you in though. Your lucky you have good friends..."

[Charlie]

Damian-

"He was a good friend. He crossed a line though." I swallowed, "He betrayed me, by bringing up something he swore he would never bring up. He brought up what I looked like the day he found me." I paused, "If you want to here it, I can tell you." I gazed at her, my eyes trying to find out if I could trust her with the very thing that gave me nightmares every night.

Carissa: I was thoroughly confused. What about the way he looked? "Um, only if you want to tell me."

[Charlie]

Damian-

I prayed she didn't have a stomach that upset easily. "Well, to start off, they tried to give me food, and since it had been so long I through up. His mum, didn't want me to see myself." I paused. "But that night he brought me a mirror."I stopped. I put my head in my hands, ". I did not see the kid I remembered myself as, no. I saw something much worse. I could see every vein in my body; my skin was translucent, stretched tightly across my bones. I had no fat, and no muscle to speak of. Each one of my ribs was visible. Every bone in my body was visible because of how tight my skin was. My mouth was dry, and I was very pale. My cheek bones seemed to stick out of my face as my skin hung and stretched on them. There were lines from the stretching. My hair was thinner and lighter, and caked in mud, that would not come out no matter what.

"But the worst thing, were my eyes. I have light blue eyes, but not then. They were neither light blue nor dark blue. They seemed to be drained of all color, yet there was a color there. They were grey yet navy blue and the whites of my eyes were blood red. My eye sockets were so sunken in. They were like pits- deep, and unloved. I wanted to look away, but I couldn't. I did not know if I was crying, or if something else was happening, but he took the mirror away. " I stopped, waiting for her reaction. I closed my eyes and reopened them.

Carissa: I shut my mouth, because it was hanging open. "Oh, my... Uh, so, how long was this ago? I mean, your skinny, thank God you're going to eat something now, but you look better now..." I didn't knwo what to say.

[Charlie]

Damian-

"I think I was going through puberty. I have no idea. Five years maybe." I pulled a number out of the air. Really wishing I knew my birthday now. I didn't dare tell her about my ordeal with food. I prayed she wouldn't ask me to eat more. I would be excusing myself so I didn't puke all over her, and everything.

Carissa: "So you don't know how old you are?"

[Charlie]

Damian-

I shook my head, "No. The last birthday I remember was turning seven." I silently added, "I think."

[flaggirl3]

Carissa: "Well, your tall. But still young looking. I'd say you're in either twenty, I wouldn't go twenty-one. Maybe your my age or eighteen. Just guess work..." The waitress came with our drinks and said that our food would be there in a minute.

[Charlie]

Damian-

I felt a slight comfort in knowing an approximate age. I looked at the drink. Not touching it.

Carissa: I picked up the cup of tea and took a sip. "What you don't like coffee?"

[Charlie]

Damian-

I shook my head. I would upset my stomach. "I rather have water." I shuddered. I hated water, but I had to drink it to survive. I couldn't live off Guinness.

Carissa: I noticed the shudder. "What you don't like water either? Because of the rain?"

[Charlie]

Damian-

I quickly lied, "I can handle water." I said. I had only mentioned the rain, I had said nothing about how each drop felt like a bullet. I knew what those felt like too.
