I exhaled softly, biting the inside of my lip. After carefully weighing my options, I slowly handed the bag over to him.

"Thank ye," I said quietly.

[Charlie]

Damian-

I looked at her oddly. I knew she wasn't stupid, but it obviously wasn't a bad time. "No, you're fine." I said.


Keith-

"No problem." I grabbed the bag, it was an easy lift. But made harder by the newspapers I carried. No one would care a few of them got dropped. We never got the money back we spent on them if they weren't sold anyways.

We walked in silence for a few moments, my mother's life lessons replaying through my brain like a broken record:

Never talk to a stranger, When in a bad situation always scream as loud as you can, and most importantly never let anyone control you.

I was pretty sure I already ignored all 3 of those rules, but I wasn't about to break any more. He was a handsome lad, but it wouldn't distract me.

[Charlie]

Keith-

The silence was killing me, but I decided to stay quiet. That is until I realized I had no idea where I was going with these clothes. "Where are we taking these." I asked, completely forgetting to make myself understandable. I knew the words kinda smooshed together, but she was Irish, even if she was from the south she should be able to understand me.

"Next house'n the left." I answered, in an almost equally thick accent. Some people find it hard to understand my native tongue, but speaking to another Irish person made this easier.

[Charlie]

Keith-

I nodded. We walked the rest of the way in silence. Seeing as I didn't normally deliver laundry. I stopped at the steps, and waited for her to do the delivering part of the job.

Carissa: By the way he looked at me I knew he was thinking I was a little dumb, so I said, "It was just the way you laughed at me. I thought that-well, i don't know what I thought..." I sighed in frustration.

[Charlie]

Damian-

I supressed laughter, "You're fine. But I'm not doing anything." I said.

Carissa: "Well, I would have walked on by if you were doing something." I smiled a little.

[Charlie]

Damian-

I frowned. But then smiled, "So where were you headed?" I asked. She was working not to long ago.

Carissa: "Um," I wasn't going to tell him I was coming to see him, "I was just out for a walk. I couldn't get my mind set on the dress I was sewing at work."

[Charlie]

Damian-

"Understanable." I felt the hunger pains coming on, i pushed them down. I didn't have the money at the moment, I could go months without eating, even though it was hard. And when I ate I didn't eat much. Food always made me sick.

Carissa: I heard his skinny stomach growl. "Are you hungry?"

[Charlie]

Damian-

Panic arose in my face. Of course I was, but I couldn't say that. "No." I lied, I might have been able to squirm my way out of situations wear I would get in trouble, but that didn't mean my eyes gave away everything.

[Charlie]

(Keith is helping someone deliver laundry but that can be changed very quickly and damian is sitting in his shoes stand talking with carrisa)

I step up to the door and knock 3 times, the usual routine. When the customer appears at the door, a heavyset woman with short gray hair, I hand her folded clothes over to her.

"Top o' the morning, ma'am."

As usual, she doesn't answer me, only takes her clothes and shoves a handful of coins into my hand.

"Have a nice day." Her raspy voice is the last thing I hear before she slams the door shut.

(I'll just make him do his thing then)

"Roll up! Roll up! The Fabulous Masterful Jamison is here to amaze!" he rubbed his hands together, "You! Madam!" he skipped up to a middle-aged woman with her husband, "Prepare to be amazed!"
The woman blushed slightly as Jamie brought her to the front, the man getting a bit annoyed.
"Now, if you could pick a card," he showed a pack to the woman as she selected one, "Now, show it to the crowd."
By this time there was a large audience, so he knew he was gonna get a fair amount.
She showed the card around, of course he knew what the card was already, Queen on spades.
"And now," he passed her a pen, "Would you please right any word you fancy onto the back of the card."
She smiled and took it, putting a random word onto the card in her neat print.
"And put it back so that the word is facing downwards," his smile glittered in the scarce sunlight.
She did as she was told, laughing lightly as she did.
"Now, I'll take the joker out," he did as he said, "And tear it up," he did that too so that the pieces were small, "Now, may I borrow your hat kind Sir?"

[Charlie]

Keith-

The rudeness that was shown to her. She did not deserve it. None of us did, but did we get it? Yes. We were different, and people didn't like that. I smiled at her.

Shrugging, I tried to seem indifferent to the customer's obvious rudeness, but on the inside I was fuming. Treated differently, and all because of where I come from. It was uncalled for.

[Charlie]

Keith-

"That's not the worste I've seen." I said trying to comfort her. "Me mate," I paused I had recently betrayed him, but I let that pass, he was still my friend. "Will have customers not pay, or if he talks they will get up and walk away." I said.

A disgusted look appeared on my features as he said this. I shook my head, realizing belatedly that my hands had curled into fists.

"And all because of what?" I asked, taking the sack and continuing on my route.

[Charlie]

Keith-

"Well, he's not the cleanest fellow but mainly because he's Irish." I stated, I thought it was obvious but she didn't know Damian. So I calmly explained it to her. I moved a little away from, it looked as if she was going to punch me.

I fought the urge not to smile when he backed away, but the corners of my lips still twitched a little. Unclasping my hands, I stepped up onto the next doorstep and knocked 3 times again.

This person was one of my kinder customers- a younger girl, not 3 years older than me perhaps. She had a heart shaped face and blond ringlets cascading down her back. Her blue eyes lighted with gratefulness when she saw her folded laundry.

"Thank you, Cass." She pressed my coins into my hand and gave me a small wave, before disappearing back into her home.

[Charlie]

Keith-

While she was at the door, I sold two papers to two men he walked by. One paid and the other paid me then punched the guy for not paying. I laughed as they walked away, they looked like brothers, with two very different morals.

I was nearing my last customer of the day, so the sack was much lighter now. I was able to carry it without restraint, but he still followed me on the rest of the route. Periodically, I would inconspicuously check if my belongings were still there.
