Damian-

I quickly lied, "I can handle water." I said. I had only mentioned the rain, I had said nothing about how each drop felt like a bullet. I knew what those felt like too.

Carissa: "Oh...do you want to hear about me then?" Then, the waitress came with our food, I asked her for a glass of water for Damian. The soup smelled good and I unrolled my silveware.

[Charlie]

Damian-

"Sure." Thankfully I didn't have to tell her about getting shot, twice. I looked at the soup and silverware. And paused for a moment. I picked up the spoon and scarfed down the soup that was in the small bowl. I was full, well full for me. I wouldn't be eating any more.

Carissa: "Wow, could you eat any faster? Anyway," I ate a spoonfull of soup, "my story isn't as quiet interesting as yours."

[Charlie]

Damian-

I laughed, I could and I knew it. "I'm sure it is." I assured her. She hadn't even heard my whole story, but the other part seemed a bit more personal.

Carissa: "Okay. My parents lived in Poland. They owned a small inn, and eventually they went broke. That's why you don't build an inn in the middle of nowhere... So, they came to America two years later, my mother big with child -me- at the time. I was born here in New York. I have a Polish accent, but it only comes through when I'm yelling. You might have heard that when I was mad at you a while back." I smiled at him and ate more soup.

[Charlie]

Damian-

"I noticed that." I said talking about her accent. "I wish I didn't have an accent." I said a bit sad. It always ruined things for me.

Carissa: I gawked at him. "You wish you didn't have an accent! I think it's very appealing." I gave a small smile.

[Charlie]

Damian-

"Of course ya do." I smirked, most women thought it was appealing. "But when I try to get customers, or even go into a place like this by myself, if my appearance doesn't turn people off, my accent gets me thrown off. The Irish are treated lower than rats here."

Carissa: I was caught by his first words. "'Of course ya do'! What is that supposed to mean?"

[Charlie]

Damian-

I couldn't help but laugh. "You're not the only woman who likes my accent." I said. "But, your the only one who hasn't tried to get the upper hand of me."

Carissa: "Uh-huh. So you think you're just oh-so charming, do you?"

[Charlie]

Damian-

"Not really." I lied. I did like to flirt. "Many women like my accent, and I let them get to close, and well things go bad." I said. Just like they were now, I added in my mind.

Carissa: "Well, I'm not the type of girl looking for a serious relationship. Not all women need a man to prosper and be happy." I smirked at him.

[Charlie]

Damian-

I smiled, she didn't need to know all those women wanted sex, and I stopped them from getting that.

Carissa: I saw the expression on his face, "I meant women like me, the women running to you were different."

Damian-

I realized that. "I'm glad you're different. Finding someone I can trust is hard."

Carissa; I snorted, "Okay... Well, I'm glad you think so highly of me." I tried to pull off sarcasm, but I knew my eyes gave away how much it meant to me that he felt he could trust me, and that I was different from other women. I didn't want to be weak and spineless, like our woman ancestors before us. Most women didn't want to be like that, and some couldn't help it. I was touched by his words.

Damian-

"The pleasure is all mine." He smiled, as water was set down before him. He took it and slowly took a sip. A flashback of the rain. He shook his head, as he swallowed the water.

Carissa: "Um, what now? Anything else to tell me, or are you done?"

[Charlie]

Damian-

I took of sip of water and swallowed hard. "Do you want to know more?" I asked. Realizing if I told her more, being shot three times would come up.

Carissa: "Only if you want to tell me. I'm not expecting more."

Damian-

I took a deep, breath why not tell her. "Well, time had passed, and I was walking down to the local pub. I saw my mates Sis, pushed out, being bullied by an older man. I was quite young at the time, but I hated seeing her hurt. I ran up, and defended her, landing my self a gun shot wound to the shoulder." I would not tell her about killing the man, she would turn me in. Jail did not do good things to my mind. "We came to America on a boat, almost not making it. A few weeks later, I saw a stranger being pushed out of a bar. She was being bullied by an older man. I couldn't leave her their, so I ran to help. This time receiving to gun shot wounds to my shoulder." I paused. "If it weren't for my best customer, I would be dead. He took me in an nursed me back to health." I finished. I eagerly waited her reply. What would she say to me, I had been shot three times.

Carissa: I sat there, shocked, then, deciding I was being too gullible, I let out a short laugh. "You're bluffing!" I waited for him to contradict me.

[Charlie]

Damian-

I was hurt, I pulled down my shirt collar to show her the three bullet hole scars. "I don't bluff." I smiled.

Carissa: "Oh..." I stared wide eyed at his shoulder. Probably catching flies with my mouth hanging open for the second time today.
