Carissa: I smiled at the young man. "Hello...um, do you mind?" I looked at my black high-heeled boots. I started gathering my skirts so I could sit down.

Damian-

I figured it best, at the moment, not to talk. I wasn't sure if she would like me, well my accent at least. I nodded, got out of the chair, and gestered for her to sit. I started getting my supplies out.

Carissa: I sat in his chair, wondering why he wouldn't talk. I tried to make some conversation, though I usually didn't talk to people like him, I had a feeling..."So, how are you liking the weather today?"

[Charlie]

Damian-

I looked up at her. I had to talk, still no knowing how she would treat me if she heard my Irish accent, I attempted to hide it. The weather was hot, "It's great, might go for a swim later."

Carissa: "Oh! You have an accent! Irish?"

Joyce: I stroked the horses nose. "Who's a good boy?" I whispered in his ear before pulling a carrot out of my dress pocket. I had snuck it out of the kitchen this morning. Mom wouldn't be too impressed with me when she found out, but it was worth it for the nudge on the shoulder the horse gave me. He then bent over, trying to fit his large nose into my pocket to look for more. I gently pushed him away. "No no no, I need to save some for your friends," I said, giving him an ear rub and a kiss on the nose.

Ah damn, she found out. I tried to play innocent, hopefully it would work. "Yes." I sighed, "I understand if you wanna get your shoes shined somewhere else. It happens all the time."

Carissa: "Oh, no, I don't mind at all." I'd always had a soft spot for people with accents, escpecially men.

Damian-

I thanked God she wasn't prejudiced. I breathed a sigh of relief, "That's great."

Carissa: I giggled at him. "What? You were scared I would leave?"

Damian-

"Not scared." I explained, "It just, it happens alot. I'm, well the Irish, aren't really liked."

Carissa: "Oh, I know. I don't mind the accent, though. I actually find it very appealing." I smiled sweetly at him.

Damian-

I smiled, girls normally found my accent appealing. I moved onto her other shoe. "Where are you headed this morning?"

Carissa: I groaned. "To work, I'm a seamstress." I made a digusted face.

Damian-

"Nothing can be as bad as this. You have a steady income, and stay clean." I said.

Carissa: "Well, true. At least you have some freedom here. I go to work, go home, do some chores, then go to bed."

[Charlie]

Damian-

I almost lost it when she said freedom. Sure I get to wonder the streets of New York, but being Irish, I had no freedom. "Freedom, you're forgetting where I come from. I'm lucky the pub welcomes me. I'm not welcome most places."

Carissa: "Huh. I guess you have a point. But, at least you don't have parents that are watching your every move, Wanting you to do everything they tell you! Sometimes I think I'd want to be in your position, you're not someone's puppet. I am." I had stamped my foot and placed it back on his fingers. "Oh, sorry!"

[Charlie]

Damian-

"Damnit." I said, examining my fingers, they were fine. "Don't worry about it. My position ain't all flowers and daisies. But you make a point as well. I guess everyone has a hard life at some point or another." I said, no point in arguing with a customer. I had finally finished her shoes.
