A storm had broken out. Buckets of rain cascaded down on the muddy road. Two lone riders steered their horses towards the cover bridge that lead over the River Fell. In the distance, blacker than the night, stood the Tower of Fell.
The streets were empty but lights sparkled in the window. The inn, recognizable by its boistrous air, stood in the center of town.
The wind whipped across the streets, throwing water in to the faces of the riders.

Iris: I Pull my cloak closer to my body, my hood almost blowing back. "Stupid wind," I mutter coldly, pulling the reins and forcing my horse -- ironically named lightening -- to slow down.

A stable boy ran through the rain with his coat pulled over his head. "Can I get your horses?" he shouted over the rain.

Iris: I nod once mutely before dismounting quickly and landing in a puddle. So. Freaking. Cold. My hood falls down as a severe wind gushes through. good thing I'd tied my hair back into two braids. I pat Lightening once before heading towards a warm looking inn. I hope i had enough money...

The stable boy clutched the reins and led the horses into the stable.
The door to the inn opened onto a festive scene. The usual patrons were packed together around the small tables, but the inn also hosted those who usually kept to themselves. But a night like tonight no body wanted to be alone.
In a corner a hunched old woman flipped through a deck of cards.
In another an elderly man bent over a book.
Less out of place people clogged the center of room. The tables had been pushed to the side to clear a wide dance floor which throbbed with the pulse of twenty odd couples. The tables were still occupied by men and women who may have been sober a few hours ago, but now were practically toppling out of their chairs.

[[okey doke. Iris is just worried about having enough money.]]

Iris: I slip to the back of the room, sitting down wearily at an empty table and rest my head. Riding for so long was suicidal. I barely raise my head at the sound of someone's voice near me.

"Betsy and Mr Pington," said one of the men at a table near Iris's. "Gone. Folk say they went out two nights ago. Apparently they were too drunk to see left from right and ended up on the steps of Tower Fell." His voice fell to an ominous hush.
"The Tower got'em," another man said as he downed his beer. "Just like it'll get the rest of us."

Caelynna: I sat at a table in the inn and watched as rowdy men drank their hearts out. I tightened my eyes and brushed back my pale hair. I hadn't had anything to drink, I never did. I had come here to listen to the gossip of the town, stay inconspicuous. If that was ever possible.

Iris: I pulled my hood up over my head before leaning back in my chair and listening to the people a table or so away from me. Disappearances? Sounded like something I could get into for a little repayment. I smirked to myself.

A loan rider riding down a dirt road finally stopped as he entered a village. He asked for directions to the nearest Inn. Upon entering he heard a mans voice "The Tower got'em. Just like it'll get the rest of us."

Wyn's lips curved into a grin. This is what he'd come for. Some sort of adventure and mystery. It was definitely good to be out of his village. Spying a seat in the back, Wyn moved to take a seat.

Iris: I glance over at the villager that has taken a seat beside me. I look over at them, raising a dark eyebrow. "Whatchu smiling about?" i mutter.

Caelynna: I smiled at the thought of the Towr. I had been there before and I moved to a closer seat, hoping I could be of some help.

so right now we have our party of three seated in close proximity listening to the whispers of townsfolk. are any of said charries chatty? or am i going to have to do all the talking? i think we all know i'm fine with that ))

The door of the inn burst open. A man staggered in. "Help!" he cried. "Please, somebody help me!" The crowd shied away and stared down at him. "My daughter. My baby girl. She's been taken!" The man pointed to the tower. Tears ran down his cheeks as he stared around with beseeching eyes.

Iris: I glance up, letting my hood fall back down to my shoulders. my eyes narrow, zooming in on the man. The tower, maybe i could lend him a hand, I think with a small smile.

No one moved. A few people glanced at each other then they all turned away from the man and went back to their drinking and talking. The man sobbed and stumbled to the counter. The bartender gave him a sympathetic look and put a tankard down next to him.

Iris: I slip away from my table to go sit beside the man. "Hey, I think I could help you; get your daughter back, i mean." i add quietly. A new adventure sounded just like the kind of thing i needed right now.
