Alice’s eyes seemed to be shut tighter than before. A soft groan escaped her chapped parted lips. Soon, for the first time in a year and a half, her eyes were fluttering open. Icy green irises focused on a blindingly white ceiling as the smell of antiseptic and medicinal filled her nostrils. Am I dead? She asked herself. No…I’ve been dead before…It smells like an infirmary…How long have I been here? Questions filled her head and reeled through her mind. She blinked her eyes a few times as they adjusted to the light and tried to move her fingers and toes. So far, so good…She tried to move her head but decided against it due to the pain in her neck. What happened to me? A tear trickled out of the corner of her eye. There was an aching pain in her torso; it was the sign of a healing would that was tender, not nearly a hundred percent in her case. She gazed up at the ceiling for a bit before hearing footsteps. Her muscles tensed up as she watched a nurse enter the room she was occupying.

"Good afternoon sleeping beauty." The nurse smiled. This also caught Alicia's attention.

Alice looked at the nurse, brow furrowing. "What happened?" she rasped, the feeling of using her voice felt ancient to her.

"You don't remember?" The nurse asked. "You had a sword fight and you got a tad hurt."

Alice shook her head, confusion on her face. "I...I don't remember much..." she whispered. She noticed another figure in the room and squinted to get a better look. "Alicia?" she questioned quietly.

Alice could only smile at the girl then frown at how tired and older she looked. "How long have I been unconscious?"

[A small conversation in the command room]

"We cannot lose this battlefront! The Empire will tear right over us and destroy everything we've finally built up. Send more reinforcements."
"The blood and Shadow elves will be there shortly, they've agreed to rejoin the battle."
"Good get all the airsupport we can and tear a new hole in that fucking sound barrier doing it. That might lighten up some of these casualties."
"This is black air 1, our squad will be there asap along with the other 3 shadow air quadreps."

Alice: I frowned, weakly sitting up. My arm pressed against my chest as I grimaced.

The nurse quickly checked over Alice's wounds before saying, "They should be fine. The healing slowed down a bit but it's doing okay." She turned and walked towards the door.
