Connor: No! I have to explain. I take a surprisingly steady step forward. "Avery," I say quickly. "She's back." All I have is to hope that she'll stop and listen. I need to talk to Lucy about this. We grew up together, she'd know if I really should go talk to Avery tomorrow or not. I gulp, anxious to know what Lucy is gonna say.

Lucy: I gasp, eyes wide. Avery. My best friend. Aviator. Avy. Avery. "W-w-what?" I say weakly. It couldn't be true, it couldn't. She was dead, I watched her get captured. I saw her dragged away screaming. I was the one who tried to help, I was the one who just couldn't get her in my grasp. I was the one who let her die.

Connor: "Can we talk?" I ask again, my balance becoming more stable by the second.

Jp: I bite my lip. Connor had refused to tell me, but I knew - or guessed - what had happened at the party. He kept muttering Avery when I first tried getting him in the car. I sigh, glancing over at a confused looking Elliot. "I think we should give them some time to talk." I say.

Elliot: I glance over at this other girl. Maybe she was a friend of Lucy's and Connor's? I shrug, taking a few steps away from Lucy's side. "Well I hope you guys get things sorted out." I toss over my shoulder, looking to Lucy.

Lucy: I lean back in my couch and wait for Conner to sit across from me. I started to clean the wound on my knee while I waited for him to start, wincing all the while. "Speak now or forever hold your peace cause if not now, never." I growled. I was still unexplanably hurt.

Connor: I sigh, taking a seat next to her, watching her clean her knee for a moment to collect my thoughts. "I saw her at the party. At first, I thought I was going crazy - and this was before I'd had anything to drink - so I went up to her. It had to be her though. I'd recognize those hazel eyes anywhere. But she was...her hair it isn't..." i shake my head, running my fingers through my hair. "And she was with some other guy. She..she told me to go. That she'd talk to me tomorrow. After the race." I turn to Lucy slowly. "That's why I need to talk to you. Do you think I should go talk to her? Or should I just...not?"

Lucy: I think about it. I was pretty much shocked. "We go, together to talk to her tomorrow. I do not forgive in any degree but I need to see her." I say monotone and hiding my emotions from him. I couldn't face him tonight.

Connor: I stare at Lucy for the longest time before getting up from the couch. "Luce, I'm sorry." I say quietly, chewing on the inside of my cheek and just standing there for another prolonged moment. But then I end up walking away and for the front door. That race tomorrow was so not worth winning through at this point.

Jp: I ended up sitting next to Elliot out on the front lawn. It was awkward. Very. We didn't say anything. Then finally I have to break the silence. "So, Elliot," I learned his name at least, "You--"
"Jp," Connor walks out of the house steadily. I look up at him. "You still need to drive," he says, not looking at me, but at the ground. I sigh. Obviously the talk didn't go so well.
"Ok. Well it was nice meeting you Elliot." I smile at him politely. He smirks at me.
"Same," he waves to us as we walk towards Connor's car.

Lucy: Thats when I break, snap in half, rip apart. I couldn't take it anymore, the pain of knowing She was gone. Now Shes back, why? I don't know, don't care, don't want to care.

I did the only thing I knew that would make me feel a bit better; Go to the garage.

Elliot: I watch for a moment while Lucy runs off and across the street. Should I really go after her? I hesitate, but end up jumping up and racing after her. "Hey!" I call to her, then realize she'd stopped walking and I literally run into her. I stumble back a step, smiling sheepishly. "Uh...sorry, Lucy." I apologize quickly.

Jp: I drive around to the front of Connor's house and get out without saying a word. I walk around to the other side of the car and reach to open the door for Connor, but he gets it himself and steps out as though he wasn't drunk 10 minutes ago. I pull my arm back, shifting awkwardly beside him for the few seconds it takes to get up to his front door.

"So...I, um, I guess I'll see you after the races tomorrow," I say, breaking the long silence streak. He turns to me, his face serious.
"I need to talk to you too," he finally murmurs after another bout of silence. I gulp. "About earlier." He adds, not breaking his gaze. That reminds me. My face reddens, and I'm thankful for the darkness.
"Oh yeah," I start. "T-that..." I glance away, wishing he'd just let me go home. But knowing Connor, that wasn't happening. He steps toward me, then hesitates.

"Jay..I.." he scratches the back of his head, looking away as the awkward silence stretches on. "I wasn't thinking when I did that, but I don't regret it." he finally looks back to me. "Maybe I was being impulsive - okay, I know I was - except, things like that happen for a reason, right? I had to have thought about it once to have wanted to, you know?" Now it sounds as though he's pleading with me.

"Connor, it's fine. Let's just for--"

"I can't. I won't be able to. But with Avery being back, everything's just..." he doesn't finish and doesn't seem as though he will be. So I finish it for him.
"I know. You and Avery were..." I shake my head, actually smiling a little. Everyone knew about them. Friends growing up, a perfect couple once dating. "You were close, and I know you can't break anything like that just because of one mistake."
"It wasn't--"

I stop him with a look. "Like you said. You were drunk. It happened. And I think we should...just forget it ever happened. Okay?" I say, not expecting an answer. And I don't get one. I take a few slow steps back. "I'll see you tomorrow maybe. Good night, Connor." I take one more step backward before turning my back on him and starting my walk home alone.

Lucy: I almost feel forward with the impact of him running into me. "What? I just want to fix my baby. I didn't get a chance too, she deserves better. No matter how stupid her driver is I still have a commitment to her." I say fast and pushing down the tears that threaten to break loose.

"I just want to take my mind off of the pain. You can help, Hell, I'd let a homeless guy help. I don't care, just let me work." I continue and return to my main mission; Getting to the garage.

Elliot: I put my hands up in defense. "Sure, sure, no problem. One thing I've learned through my years: Always let a girl do what she wants when she's upset. Or you get a nasty kick to the balls and a trip to the clinic." I smirk, moving to let her past and following behind her, whistling a little tune. I think it's called 'Hallelujah', or something. It was this pretty little piece of music my mom used to play on the piano for me when I was way younger. That was before she ran and I never saw her again. I sigh, but don't say anything.

Lucy: I get to my garage, my sactum, my true home. Without even thinking I strip to my underwear and zip on a jumpsuit, throwing the useless dress into the rags pile.
Then I start working on her. I take out the dents and check her engine and oil, I wax her and give her a new coat of paint.
By the time I'm done it's about three in the morning, nine hours to the race.

I get my seventh red bull out and chug it down.

Elliot: I jump, almost falling out of my chair. Wait..where was...? Oh yeah! The Westin Garage. I yawn, ruffling my hair and straightening up. I wheel over to Lucy was working in my wheely chair. I hesitate before talking.
"Um, hey. Sorry I dozed off for a second. Did ya need any help?" I ask her, suppressing another yawn I could just feel coming.

Lucy: I glanced at him a shook my head, the red bull just started to make my nerves buzz it wouldn't last long considering how tired I am. I decided that I hated red bull around 1:30 in the morning, that was about two hours and four cans ago. I had another few cases ready to be open and my hands were shaking with the adrenaline, I never drink coffee or had a redbull before.

"Finished, you fell asleep around midnight and so I just finished a few minutes ago. All done. Want a red bull? I don't like red bull but it helps you stay awake!" I said speedily, was I quivering? I think I was quivering.

I giggled and started to scrub the wheels of the car.
