[Charlie]

"I'm an only child with no relatives alive, we were a very poor family. When my parents were murdered I was eight. I stopped counting my age after it didn't seem to matter. I was alone, and left to fend for myself. Obviously I couldn't stay in the house, so went to the streets. I begged for food, but it was hard times for everyone so I rarely got it." Damian looked down. It reminded him of his current situation.

"It had been years, since my parents died, and at least six months since my last meal. It was raining abnormally hard. I had passed out, hoping to be dead, I mean I had nothing to live for. Keith came walking by and picked me up, and took me into his home." He decided it would be best to skip a majority of what happened.

"After I had gotten somewhat better, it had been a few years I would think. We went to the docks and came here hoping for something." Damian giggled. No full well it was no joke, "I definately got something, No money." He stopped laughing, when he reaized it wasn't funny.

He was leaning forward, and sat back when he finished, waiting to hear what she had to say. He took another sip of Guinness it slowly relieved all the rees that happened in his life.

I give a small twitch when he finishes, looking down to see my hands gripping the table so hard that my knuckles have turned white.

I'm brought back to my parents.

Inhaling a strangled breath, I try to push away the memory of my mother, just weeks before she passed on.

My small, 9 year old self peeks through the crack in the wall even though Patrick told me to help peel what was left of our potatoes. A mere handful, compared to what we once had.

My mum lies on the bed in a twisted heap, her frail shoulders just poking out through the blankets. I can see the outline of every bone, and when she turns her head, her cheeks are sunken in and once beautiful green eyes have dimmed and acquired dark bags beneath them.

I gasp, pressing a hand to my mouth to stop the flow of tears that threatens to spill as I scurry back to the kitchen.

16 days later she's gone.

I snap back to reality to find that Damian has leaned back in the booth and was watching me, waiting for my reaction.

"I-I'm sorry." I whisper, not knowing what to do or say. It was such a cliche thing to say, but I meant it. I look up at him, blatantly staring, my eyes never leaving his. I don't think I needed to say anything at that moment- the emotions portrayed on both of our faces seemed to be enough.

Carissa: I leaned back in the boothe and rolled my eyes. I had totally lost Damian's attention. I caught Keith's eye and tightly smiled at him.

[Charlie]

"It's fine, it happened a long time ago. As long as I get food about every month or so, I'm fine. I barely remember my parents." Damian said, knowing it was a full lie. He remembered his parents to a t. His dad looked like him, and his mom did as well. He remembered them playing football with him, tucking him in, loving him. He knew that lie could be seen on his face.

In the back of Damian's mind however he hoped Carissa was listening because some of this information she did no know. Damian put his hand on the table and set his head in and just slowly shook it.

Keith smiled back at Carissa. Damian had a short attention span, he tried to telepathically tell Carissa that, but he didn't think it worked.

I swallow painfully at his words, reaching over the table to touch his hand but then drawing back as I think better of it. While as we talked we sort of migrated toward each other, I now lean back against the booth.

"You remember them." I whisper, shaking my head just slightly. The convincing smile could win anyone over, but you had to look a person in the eye to tell what they were really thinking. All the raw emotion was in the eyes.

Carissa: I was good at reading quiet messages, Keith was telling me that Damian had the attention span of a squirrell. I shook my head and mouthed the word, "Apparently," across to Keith. I saw the other girl reach out to touch Damian's hand and felt like either standing up to leave or going over and smacking her, I wasn't sure why I felt so jealous, but I did. I crossed my arms over my stomach angrily.

Damian sighed, and rocked back. He was almost ready to cry. He silently nodded. He looked at the three people in the pub with him.

He shook his head, and stood up, he just needed to be alone for a bit.

Keith took his seat, "Let him go off by himself for a bit." He suggested.

I nod silently, wanting to go with him but knowing that I need to stay all at once. "Nice meetin ya," I murmur, letting my accent run. It was easier to talk to him and Keith that way rather than smothering it for other people.

[Charlie]

Damian came back, and spilled his guts. He didn't care who was their. He closed his eyes, pretending like he was alone.

He sat next to Casanova. Damian shut his eyes tightly, and imagined his eight year old self, the cool summer days in Ireland. "I tried to forget my parents." A tear came out of his tightly shut eyes.

"But it just doesn't happen. My mammy's sweet smile, her soft voice. I couldn't forget that. The moments of playing footy with me da, his deep voice telling me I was doing well." Damian sighed, as he opened his eyes, "You just don't forget things like that."

"I know." I murmur with sincerity dripping into each word. I hadn't noticed it, but I'd been biting the inside of my lip- the salty tang of blood had begun to pool in my mouth. Swallowing, I continue. "Lost me parents s'well." I tell him. Looking down, I allow my long hair to work as a curtain between me and him as I look to Keith instead, avoiding his eyes.

[Charlie]

Keith looked as if he woke up from a sleep at what Casanova said, he put his hand on the table. In worry.

Damian looked over, leaning forward, to see her face. He had found someone similar to him. "Talking it out really helps." Damian tried to smile, wiping the tears that had fallen down his face.

Keith had tensed up and glared at Damian.

I scoot a little closer to the wall in the booth when I catch Keith's tense jaw and glaring eyes, then Damian's sad eyes and wavering smile as he wipes the tears from his eyes.

"They starved 'emselves. Me mum, she was a good lass. When the potato famine hit our farm, she stopped eatin' to leave more food for me and my brother Patrick. We were wee youngins at the time." I inform them both, leaning back in the booth.

[Charlie]

In the back of Damian's mind he thought it was better that they chose how they died, rather than a man just coldly murdering them. Damian's smile disappeared, this was all to sad. he closed his eyes, as the music in the pub changed. He softly started singing the words to the song that was playing. Keith joined in the two harmonized softly singing Mountains of Mourne.

Damian's deep voice was aching to sooth the soul, and Keith's higher voice begged to enter the heart. Damian closed his eyes thinking of the small town in which he grew up. He opened them and looked from Casanova to Carissa. Keith looked at Casanova, giving her a sweet understanding look.

I smile slightly at Keith's sympathetic look, standing up from the booth so I could have a chance to talk to him. Besides, I was sure that Carissa would want a moment alone with Damian as well.
A smooth jazz ensemble slips through the speakers, filtering throughout the pub. I close my eyes for a moment, letting the melodies lift me away.

"She always did love music." I tell him, not looking at his eyes. I was brought back to my 7 year old self, standing in the dining room as I stare longingly at mum's display case. Inside it were her prized vinyls, the ones that she told me were too special to play. At the time, I didn't understand it. Why spend money on something you'll never listen to? But now, it makes perfect sense.

[Charlie]

(they didn't have speakers then... its live music and it wouldn't play jazz just a helpful int)

Keith stood up as well, and took her hand. "Music is an entrance to the soul." Keith lifted her chin up, and looked into her eyes.

Damian looked at Carissa, ashamed of himself.

I open my eyes, staring up at him and twining my fingers around his. I liked the way they felt there. His other hand lingered under my chin.

"She said the same." I whisper, smiling a bit under his touch.

[Charlie]

Keith smiled, "She was very smart." He held back an urge, but when a glass broke at the bar, he grabbed her by the waist and they got on the floor.

Damian was waiting for Carissa to do something but I fight broke out in the bar. Damian lunged across the table, and grabbed her shoulder, and pulled her to the ground, "Do as I say." He told her.

I gasp, keeping low to the ground as shards of glass explode across the counter top of the bar. I scoot closer to Keith, confident that he'd keep me safe. At least I think...

Bam! Another explosion of glass, followed by a scream.

[Charlie]

Glass was beating in to Keith's back, but he covered Casanova.

"Stay down." Damian told Carissa. He stood up, glass hitting his face. He just reminded himself this was nothing. "Tom, what's going on?" He asked walking over to the bar.

Tom pointed to a man and girl. Damian sighed, as the man and the girl were fighting. He pushed the girl out of the way.

The man reached into his boot. Why must they always do that. "Move out of the way." He said aiming the gun now in his hand at Damian.

"No." Damian's hand dove for his pocket. He found what he was looking for.

The man came closer, "Then step outside, and we will handle this out their."

The man pushed Damian out the door.

Inside things calmed down a bit. Keith looked up and noticed Damian was gone. "Feck!" He yelled.

He heard a gunshot, and stood up. "The fight in here is over."

Damian had been shot in the chest, near his shoulder. It didn't stop him, he took his knife, and attacked the man, who soon fell down dead.

Damian collapsed.

[Charlie]

(Okay... That's a little dramatic...)
Carissa: I screamed when I heard the gun shot. I got up and ran outside. I saw Damian pull his knife and I felt like screaming, but was to shocked to do it. Instead I stood there in silence until the man fell dead, I finally came back to life, I screamed when I saw the blood on Damian and I started to cry hysterically.
(Might as well get it to maximum drama...)

[Charlie]

Damian stirred, "Stop screamin' its over." He said still on the ground. He was mad she didn't stay in their. He was mad that she saw him kill someone for the third time. He was heading to jail, and he knew it. He was seen murdering someone, the last two times he had been alone.

The knife fell from his hand, as Keith walked out, fear in both their eyes.

[Charlie]

(perfect time for the other charies to come in )

Carissa: I ran into Keith's arms. Keith was the only one that would comfort me at this moment. I didn't know anything about him, yet I felt comforted by him. I couldn't believe what was happening to me, if only I would have stayed away from Damian, if only I would have minded my own business. If I wasn't such a sucker for an accent I wouldn't have been in this position. I started to cry more quietly.

[Charlie]

Keith patted Carissa on the back. "Damo?" He asked.

Damian coughed, "I'm fine."

Keith saw it was not just a mere shoulder wound this time. He didn't know what to do.

Damian winced as he sat up. He pulled his shirt off with his good arm, and placed his hand on his wound. His mom was shot in the chest.

He dug around for the bullet but it was no use. He placed the shirt on the wound and just tried to stop the blood.

Carissa: "I have to go." I turned abruptly and started out of the alley. I didn't want to be here. I needed to leave, to go home. "I'm leaving."
