Rory really wanted to give up she was tired and this problem stumped her. But at the same time she knew if she said she just gave up David would think she was a bad daughter of Athena and she would be thinking about I all the time.

Griffin then heard a growling noise from behind them he turned around and there was a wolf the same size as a small hell hound but much more ferocious.
The she wolf growled, "Time to prove yourself Griffin Walters son of Neptune, grandson of Mercury." She barked.
Griffin wanted to joke but this was not the time for that.

The wolf charged at Griffin ready to eat him. Griffin turned and ran uncapping Riptide along the way. As he dis he got a brilliant idea. He grabbed the horses bridal and swung himself on, it was like a stunt Legolas would do in Lord of the Rings. One he was in the saddle he felt completely comfortable and in control. It was in the saddle that he looked more like his dad than he ever had before. With reigns in left hand sword in right he manuvered the horse away from the wolf, and she charged into the water. Clearly Griffin being on the horse upset her.

Rory shrugged. She would figure it out someday. "Okay that's good for now."

Wolf charged again clearly angered. She had not been expecting this, especially from a Greek demigod. As she came Griffin read the horse up and slashed down. He knew he had cut Lupa but she didn't act as if she had been cut. She turned on a dime and Griffin lead the horse into the surf. If one could picture a wild west movie with swords instead of guns and the bad guy being a large wolf one would have a pretty good picture of what was going on. Griffin was a prow at horseback riding not to mention when he road Ginny it felt like he was riding water which put him at even more ease since water and horses were his strengths.

Rory looked at him now that that conversation was over her mind drifted to Griffin, "You think Griffin's okay?"

Corrie was talking to Mark via Iris message and he was pretty worried. "Roman demigods are born to face Lupa, but an undertrained Greek demigod. You better be praying for him to somehow get an upper hand."
"Well he's on the beach and being that close to water will give him something." she said.

"I wish I knew more Roman mythology. That way I could know more about how they prove themselves to Lupa. I have a feeling Griffin is in for a rough night." Rory said looking out the window of the building.

"It should," Mark though, "But he'll get tired especially his fight today with Foster."
"What do you mean how tired, what his fight have to do with anything."
Mark looked worried, "Griffin is a good fighter believe me, anyone who can go up against Foster and not come away with more than a scratch, bathing in Styx or not, is a good fighter. But he's tired, drained. I know Neptune kids can get energy from the water, but it can only do so much. Corrie Lupa is relentless, she will go till morning or Griffin is dead."
Corrie looked at him, "What do you mean, how exactly do you prove your worth to Lupa?"
"You have to survive the night with her attacking you. We get it once when we are two years old our mortal parent gives us to her as a sacrifice and we survive the night if we do we're in. But when we turn twelve, about the same time you guys are brought you your camp we go through another test of proving ourselves to Lupa. But we train for it, it's in our blood to survive. Even with bathing in Styx Griffin has a slim chance of survival." Mark looked genuinely sad giving this message he seemed to really like Griffin. And saying he might most likely die seemed to be really hard for him.

Griffin took off down the beach. He knew the wolf wasn't giving up. He remembered reading with great difficulty Oedipus Rex. Foster read it with him. When they got to the part where Oedipus was going to be cast out on a hill. Foster said that if Oedipus survived the night he would be taken back, as was custom. Then he said something Griffin couldn't decipher. Putting two and two together, Griffin guessed he had to survive the night with Lupa on his tail.
He looked behind him. Lupa was on dry land. He moved the horse over so that it's feet were pretty much covered with water. The ocean would give him an edge he knew that.
Lupa was beside him, he slashed at her with his sword. A spout of water laned on the wolf knocking her down.
Griffin took that opportunity to turn and run the other direction. He knew the horse would tire out by the end of the night in conditions like this. He knew horses well enough to know that. But then again she was created out of a wave there fore possible magical. But he wasn't going to test the limits. From eleven pm till four am he would let the horse rest and face Lupa on his own two feet. Lupa was bounding after them now. "Amaria what time is it?" he yelled out. When he yelled he felt the exhaustion come over him he would have to preserve his voice.

AMaria scrambled for a watch and enough light to read it. "10:37!"

Griffin nodded, "What little I know about Lupa isn't good."

He got enough energy to tell her his plan, "At eleven." he slashed at the wolf, "I'm getting off to give her a break, and at four I'm getting back on. I can't run her all night like this. Help me with the times?" he asked.
He breathed heavily as he reared up the horse again right above Lupa. The horse came down and he jumped over her.

"What do you know about Lupa?" She asked, "I assume she is a big wolf. Foster said she was the Chiron for the Roman camp."

David shrugged. "Wolf yeah but nothing like Chiron. Big as life and viscious as a piranah."

"Oh that puts me at ease." Rory said sarcastically.

Griffin took off down the other way. He knew once he was off the horse his best bet would be to run off the beach. And though he would be away from the water he couldn't continue making a scene on a public beach all night. Mortal or not that wasn't going to fly.

"Only ten more minutes girl." Griffin told the horse. Lupa was running at them to knock them sideways into the water. Griffin hunched over and began to charge. He was about to run into the charging she-wolf.

Griffin just ignored her, as soon as the wolf was in the right spot he pulled the reigns a certain way and they jumped right over Lupa. "If I wasnt I wouldn't still be alive."

The horse went to the water it was eleven o'clock he was almost nearly halfway there. He jumped off the horse. Landing in the water with a slight splash the horse walked away. It was now him and the wolf. He was terrified.

Griffin watched the wolf come after him it jumped at him. He hit it's chest with the but of his sword. It knocked the breath out of the beast. Griffin grabbed the opurtunity and ran. He ran the length of the beach Lupa on his tail.

Griffin turned to slash at Lupa with his sword. But it wasn't a wide choice. Her paws landed squarely on his chest. He fell backward and Lupa began snapping at his head. He tried to roll away but her weight on his exausted body was not in his favor.
He felt the tied, get higher, he thought. He allowed it to get up to Above Lupa's paws. He felt the strength return and Lupa loosten her grip on him as the water swirled around her paws.

Amaria remembered something, seeing lupa's look of uneasiness. "Griffin! Wolves are scared of water!"

Griffin was now wishing Amaria hadnt come. Sure her cheering was nice but he didn't need her coaching and tips.
He rolled out from underneath her. And went deeper into the water. His aim wasn't to kill Lupa it was to survive the night.
Griffin took of running down the beach in the water up to his thighs. But he wasn't running awkwardly the water seemed to part for him as he ran.

Griffin then ran o to the beach. He was drained once he got on dry land but he wasn't going to be a coward. He turned the wolf was right in his face, he swung his left hand and punched Lupa in the nose.
