Foster looked impeccably Roman. He nodded at Griffin, and took a swing. Griffin blocked, the swords met with a clang. Foster took another swing. Griffin ducked and made his own swing. The swords clashed and sparks flew.

Foster was relentless. He knew going for a flesh wound would be useless since he didn't know Griffin's achilles heal. But he managed to cut Griffin's face. And it began to heal. Griffin took a swing, and Foster met it with an equal blow. This continued, till Griffin managed to get close enough to cut Foster's arm. But the cut began to heal. Something Griffin wasn't expecting. It caught him off guard, and Foster's next blow pushed him back.

Amaria's jaw dropped but she soon recovered and said. "Looks like the River Styx did have two bathers."

Rory nodded, "But why him?"
Mark looked at them, "Wait they both got in Styx?"

Griffin swung his sword at Foster and said, "Why are you healing?"
Foster blocked it, and they were holding, in a deadlock of strength, "Because."
They broke the hold, Griffin swung again clearly mad, "You got in the River!"
Foster met his blow, "Yeah."
"Why, it sucked?" He jumped over Foster's blade.
Foster turned meeting Riptide with his sword Helio Gladius, or The Sun Sword a mix of Roman and Greek names. "I had no choice, Aiden pushed me." But that wasn't the only reason he had no choice."
"So this fight is pointless?" Griffin said.
"Depends on if you find favor with the crowd." Foster told him, bending backward to avoid Griffin's sword.
He sprang forward like a spring lunging to Griffin.
"How do I do that?" Griffin asked, jumped to the side making a side swipe at Foster.
"Remember our fights from long ago?" He asked, getting nicked in the side, he put both hands over his head, and swung down.
Griffin's blade met his, "That?"
Foster nodded, as he avoided Griffin's grab for his arm.
The two began to do advanced moves from long ago, moves that even awed the Roman demigods.

Mark sighed, this would be interesting though he was now seeing moves he had never seen before.
Foster and Griffin were not joking or play fighting. They were fighting to the death, though neither of them could die. Foster had the crowds approval but both of them had the goal to get the crowd and Mark to approve of Griffin.
Because since neither of them could die his punishment for not winning the crowds approval would be proving himself to Lupa, and Foster didn't want that to happen.

Hours had passed the Roman kids were in awe. The Greek was proving himself, but then again he was a kid of the big three and Hermes/Mercury kids were always amazing with swords. Both Griffin and Foster were getting tired.
Mark stood up. Foster stopped mid swing and motioned for Griffin to do the same, "As you have noticed both boys have bathed in the river Styx a battle to death will not happen. But as an hour has gone by I ask you," he paused, both Griffin and Foster were breathing heavily clearly they were tired. "Does Foster son of Apollo have your favor?"
Every Roman kid put there thumb up and they looked at the Greek demigods and Mark.
Rory caught on and put her thumb. She then whispered, "Thumb up yes, thumb down no. Majority wins, and I think Mark has veto power."
Corrie put her thumb up.

All eyes were on Mark he grinned and flashed a white smile, that was one thing Foster had him beat at. Foster had the brightest and whitest smile. Mark put his thumb up and the crowd cheered. Clearly Foster was well liked, if he had been their year round he would be in Mark's spot.
Mark calmed the crowd, "I have another question. Do you find favor with Griffin son of Neptune, grandson of Mercury?"
This response wasn't so unanimous. But more of a majority dis put there hands up. After all he was Greek demigod.
Rory and Corrie put there thumbs up. Foster did it by his side, his vote wouldn't count.
Griffin's stomach was doing backflips he was nervous and scared. He was not used to this kind of judgement, it made him glad he wasnt a Roman demigod.
Their air got stiff and silent as they waited for anticipation.

Once again eyes were on Mark. Griffin tried to look brave. He didn't know what Mark thought of him. He just hoped he made a good impression.
Though Griffin had the feeling Mark wanted to give him a thumbs down, but he had another feeling that if he did Foster would kill him himself.
Before Mark could do anything Mr. D showed up, or a more warlike version of him. "He will be spared." Bacchus the Roman Dionysis said. Many of the campers moaned.
"This is not Pluto's turf there fore the deal that was made is off. But one of them will pay the debt. Back to your activities."
He turned to the group in orange t-shirts looking like normal Mr.D "Continue with your quest."
He turned to Foster, "We need to talk."
Griffin left the arena where Foster and Mr. D talked.
Mark met him, "I was goin to give you the thumbs up." he said.
"I will show you out." he lead them away Corrie following closely. She might have hated the Aphrodite kids but this man of Venus was a warrior.

Mark took them to where they came in, "Well y'all seem pretty nice. And if Griffin's fighting was any indicator working together should be no problem. Good luck on your quest."
Griffin didn't see Foster coming, he realized that this was it for him. He knew crying wouldn't be good. But he couldn't help but being sad.
"Hey if it helps, Foster has been acting really strange the past few years when he returned he wasn't himself. He was having nightmares and was getting really bad headaches. I think the new prophecy is happening. And I think he is involved."
"Headaches?" Rory asked, "A son of Apollo god of medicine getting headaches?"
Mark nodded, Corrie then said, "I've seen him get a few."
"you don't know do you?" Mark asked, "His headaches show him glimpses of the future. He both Greek and Roman Apollo's favorite and he's the only one who can do it. I found out hearing it in a dream. He was talking to someone saying he couldn't control the visions. And then he started to cry and say he would try and learn."
Griffin's jaw dropped, "I bet he knew I would get in Styx the whole time. I bet he knew he was going in too."
Rory then said, "I think he knew what Poseidon would say too, about you and Luke being related he looked very guilty."
Griffin knew he should have been mad but much of what happened to Percy Jackson was because he didn't know the future. So Foster didnt tell he could see the future because of the same principle.
"Well sorry to leave you on that note, I have a feeling things were getting tough with Foster anyways." Mark said.

Griffin went through the tunnel and one the guards smiled hitting him on the back. Once outside Griffin knew there were tears streaming down his face.
Rory came out next and rubbed him on his back.
Mark looked at Corrie, he was totally being a son of the goddess of love now, "Hey, send me a message when y'all need help or anything."
Corrie slightly blushed she wasn't used to having a guy openly flirt with her. But she knew guys back at camp did look at her especially after her runs.

Rory wanted to talk with David about his behavior on the bus. But Griffin crying seemed more important at the time, "We'll see him again." she said.
"I know, but I'm worried about what that meeting will be like." Griffin said looking at her his cheeks wet and his eyes tear stained.
Corrie looked at him, "It will be the seven best of all of us, Roman and Greek, and he's the best Roman demigod out there." she wanted to add besides Mark but didn't. "He'll be on our side."
"I'm not so sure." Griffin said. Rory arched an eyebrow at the comment and Corrie looked surprised. It was like he had given up hope.

Griffin shook his head, "I just don't know. Luke told me something down in Hades. He said Foster was being controlled and what was controlling him was controlled by what began it all as Luke put it. And Foster before he left a while ago just seemed so mad at everyone." Griffin shook his head.
Rory started to think the gears started to turn.

Foster finished with his talk. He caught up with Mark and told him to keep an eye on his friends. He replenished the supplies in his bag and was on his way.

Amaria fell silent. She didn't care if they trusted Foster, she did. Even if something was controlling him, he was good at heart.

"Well where to now?" Corrie asked.
Rory thought long and hard, "Well the prophecy says things about races and horseback riding, the prophecy talks about how two of us will fight, a storm brewing," she looked at Griffin, "with two bolts rising. No clue where any of this would start though."
"Well horseback riding is my thing." Griffin said ignoring her look.
Then Hermes appeared, "I have a message from Hades, to Griffin." he said, as he gave David a wink. They definitely had family resemblance, but Hermes looked like Griffin and Luke it was quite obvious.

"The hotel down the street is readyfor your stay." Hermes said.
He looked at Griffin, "Hades is not happy with the way the fight turned out. He wants me to tell you you'll prove your worth yet. He said you have twenty minutes by the sea to prepare then you will face Lupa, Chiron's Roman counterpart."
Hermes looked sad as he delayed the message his tight grey jogging shirt seemed to get darker with melancholy.
"Ask Lupa how to teach you to find rats." George said.
"Be quiet the boy could die tonight." Martha the other snake on Hermes cell phone said.
Griffin gulped, Lupa meant wolf in latin he knew that much and he didn't like the idea of putting two and two together. Not to mention the dream he had. "Lupa's not a wolf is she?" he asked nervously.
Hermes nodded silently. He turned toward David, "Next time your in a race remember fast is not always best."
