There, reclining on the dressing room couch, sat Harry Houdini himself. He sat up when they entered. "Who might you all be?"

"I'm-" Saffron began, but Houdini held up a hand to stop her speaking.

"I know who you are, Carolina Saffron Weisz Houdini," he said, "Do you think a father would not know his own child?"

Atlantia: " I'm Atlantia and I could care less if I'm an elder but I think my parents are." I said to him looking at my mails. I could care less about those to but ah I was trying to look casual.

"It is indeed an honor to meet an elder, Miss Loveless," Houdini said, turning his glinting, bright blue gaze to Loveless. The way he said it though, made it sound like he rather disliked the elders.

"And it is a pleasure to meet you, Atlanta," he said, nodding a greeting.

Saffron had been struck dumb. She couldn't seem to make the words fit together. "Bu- But, Mr. Houdini, you're dead," she said at last.

That was not quite a polite thing to say, but Houdini only smiled. "Or so you all thought," he said, speaking about the non-Mirrorings, "I've been making quite a comfortable living down here at the phantom theater."

"But why did you leave... the other world?" Saffron said, for lack of a better wording.

"After my, uh... illness," Houdini answered uncomfortably, "I decided it was best to 'retire' to the Mirror World. Perform stunts I already knew, quit the death-defying circut. Perform a phantom of my former shows, as a phantom of my former self, before a phantom audience."

Houdini met the girl's glare with his own piercing stare. Though he didn't try to make it be, it was scary. "Whatever mistake I have made, I beg your forgiveness." No matter how humble words he spoke, his voice always contained a trance slightly arrogant self-assurance.

He picked up a wooden box from the floor and opened it. Inside were a pair of handcuffs. He tossed them to whoever in the group would catch them and extended his wrists. "If you would be so kind as to help me practice. Secure the handcuffs firmly around my wrists, use which ever of the locks you like." The handcuffs had several different latches and lockes.

As his hands were bound, Houdini used his mouth to grab a small blanket and drop it over his hands so that they were blocked completely from sight. "Do continue the conversation," he said. Not once did he look down at his hands. He hadn't even seen which lock Simon had chose. Thirty seconds later, his hands emerged free, the left one holding the manacle.

"Now see," Houdini muttered, to himself more than to anyone else, "That would be much more interesting if I had to get out of those, and ankle bonds, and a straitjacket, then tunnel my way out of a living grave. Scratch that. Never going near a living grave. Ever again. Now if I used something in place of a coffin..."

As the famous magician mumbled his words, a black and blue cat hissed on the side, herself the size of a medium heighted dog. Battering the pure white eyes at him, she rose and leapt to the ground next to him, circling his feet for attention and adoration.
I thought you were done with death defying tricks? her thoughts for only him to hear, as she purred devilishly.
The news of guests for this time was quite rare, the phantoms out in the crowd don't really appreciate him as most should. That's why she hang around back here: seclusion. She didn't mind Houdini being here, he knew all about her hence why he didn't kick her out upon sighting.
The bell latched to her collar that hung tightly to her neck jangled as she skitted across the floor though now she was resting upon his foot to be of a nusense to him.

That's her real name, just that she uses Crimson as a more human name. Good question though!

"Done preforming them," Houdini ammended, removing his foot from under the cat, "But you know very well, Urilli, that I'll never be able to stop inventing them."

Houdini's mind was always filled with thoughts of new escapes, daring stunts. If it weren't, other magicians would soon pass him in fame. Of course, after the episode with peritonitis he'd been forced to stop. Stop this quest for fame, this thirst for notoriety.

Saffron could merely stand there. She didn't know what to say or do.

True, with that she blinked at the girl, That the girl you've been talking about? She has your eyes.
Urilli rose and padded over to the girl, wrapping her tail around her legs, her head pressing as she purred slightly.
Nice to meet you, she told the girl, her thoughts travelling to the two Houdini's this time instead of just one, Welcome to the world of mirrors.
She seemed to smirk at the master magician, taking a seat next to the girl, her pure white eyes peering up, her tail still wrapped around her leg like she owner her; she could prove useful...

"Yes, this is young Carolina Saffron Weisz Houdini," Houdini nodded.

At last, Saffron found the words to speak. "But, Mr. Houdini," she babbled, "It's impossible for you to be my dad. You were married to Beatrice Raymond. You didn't have any kids. You died over eighty years ago. It's just not possible."

"It's a rather complex situation," Houdini admitted, "I'm afraid I don't understand it entirely myself."

Saffron looked down at the large cat. "Hey, kitty," she said absently.

"Not kitty," she hissed as she reformed to her humanoid appearance, jingly bell and all, "I'm almost as human as you."
She stood maybe a good foot above the girl as she sighed, her ears twitching to the floor as her neck cracked. Her white eyes remained the same as her claw-like fingernails scratched the side of the table, the one with her blanket on it for when she was in her cat form.
"And Houdini, you should know that kicking me off like that shan't grant you any sweet dreams tonight."

"Woah," Saffron said, stepping back a little. A cat-person? "If you're not 'kitty'," she said at length, uncertainly, "What's your name?"

Houdini stood up and went over to a worktable. On it were strewn various models of escape stunts. "You may rest assured that I'm sorry," Houdini said absently to the cat, picking up one of the models. It was of a huge office building, with a little person in a strait jacket hanging upside about halfway down it.

"Urilli, let it roll off of the tongue and you'll be fine," she winked before looking at the model, "Theere aren't any skyscapres in the Mirror World Harry..."
She laughed after her little joke, looking to the girl seeming semi-dazed about the fact that she was a catperson or as it was properly known, Twiliscat.
"Also I'll make you dream of you falling off that tower if you're not careful."
He knew that she was no false threat, she'd done it before: he drowned.

"Anyway, I need to be heading to the human world within the next few days, I have a bit of business; anyone wanna come?" she looked around the room, a smile on her face as she shrugged, "I can go solo if you really want."
She slipped past a winged girl, picking up a duffel bag with a few bits and bobs, mainly things that she would need in the other world though there were a few... fantastical things.

"What? I'm doing nothing," she shrugged, swinging the bag on her back as her ears twitched back. Mice.
"Be right back," she snapped and changed back to her smaller form, the bigger cat.
Her eyes shifting rapidly, she spotted the rodent, just behind Houdini, and began to shuffle along to get it. Herself curled ready for the pounce. With one last booty wiggle, she sprang, landing on it, it's head popping out before it was shoved into her mouth.
"Sorry about that," she excused herself, turning back to the humanoid form, "Catty senses."
With that, she tilted her head back and snapped her mouth shut, the mouse falling back as she swallowed before walking out, her bag back on her back.
