Evan slid down the side of the house, and turned over, with a grunt of pain. His broken leg was no fun sleep with.

Evan awoke with a jolt, a pinching pain from his leg. He ripped the splint off, and felt instant relief. He tried to stand up, and did, then he tried to walk, but failed. He hit the ground, under his buckling leg, and let out a sharp short yell. He hated his life.

"Cause I'm tired of being outside." Evan responded, but that was it, he knew he needed to at least get inside, this person was sure to not like him. After all he had no essena.

Rayne sat quietly in the small hut she had grown used too, her hand tracing an outline of the hilt of her sword. Tasha was out hunting somewhere as usual, Evan was outside as usual.
He was avoiding her, a sharp stab of sorrow struck her heart when she thought of this fact, but she tried to forget about it. Evan was all she had left; she had already lost her older brother to the disappearing of having no essena curse. She couldn’t cope losing Evan.
Even if he did hate for it, she had promised herself to protect him, he deserved better in this world than such a fate. He deserved a life he had choice to choose. Why had she been chosen by an essena and not them? Why were they so unique that they were unwanted?
A small tear dripped down her cheek, if she couldn’t figure out something soon she would loose Evan. Then what would she have to live for? Her only friend in the world would be gone. All her efforts, joining the damn army which she hated, being made fun of because she cant become invisible, training every day. It would have been a waste if in the end she couldn’t even save her only remaining family.

Rayne wiped her tears with the back of her hand, clutching her sword tightly and carefully opening the hut door, Evan must be around the back of the hut in his usual spot. It would do him a favor if she just dissapeared for the rest of the day. He hated her presence anyway and she knew it, it would be better for him if she left.
Besides, she didn't want him to see her right now. Quickly she slipped out of the hut silently, vanishing into the trees of the forest, trudging noisely with her armor slowly when at a safe distance. She found the sparkling lake she admired often and sat down on its banks, letting her emotions overwhelm her. If she didn't let them now, they could come out in a most uneeded situation.
No one needed to know her troubles, they were silly compared to Evans, he was loosing his life.

(ack feel you there, just finished mine the other week, 3000 word essay on love literature 0.o)

Evan struggled to stand up the experience all to odd for him. He was quite scared, and he went inside. He did not hear anyone else but was all alone. He was thankful, it was hard to get alone time in his house which was overtaken by Rayne. He hobbled to the small bed and sat down, for a millisecond he disappeared. He sighed he would just have to deal with it.

'Ack damnit!' a voice rose up from behind Rayne, she turned to find a fellow cadet struggling to get through some bushes.
"what are." she sniffled " you doing here?"
"Captain wants a word with you" he frowned at a twig in his armour.
my stomach dropped, he was angry about my disobedience earlier in the town with even. Great.
"alright" I sighed wiping what I could of my tears away.
Tasha?[i] Rayne beckoned
already here she suddenly burst from the trees.
great timing[i] Rayne smiled sadly sitting on her back. "Want a lift back? I doubt your mouse essena can get you back any quicker" I half smiled out of kindness, he was only a messenger of bad news. not the news itself.
"Sure" his grin was cheesy but he jumped on anyway gleeful at the speed as we bonded away back to the town and military headquarters.

Evan knew it was almost dawn sleep was futile. He got up and hobbled to the small kitchen portion of his two room hut. He pulled out some biscuits and munched away. He needed to heal. He wanted to ride. Go into the woods live his last year in peace away from the crap of the world.

The building was large, (think classic chinese forbidden kindom place large) the courts full of soldiers training.
The slide looks they all gave me was obvious. Some scowls, some curiosity, some blank and uncaring. I got off Tasha as was procedure.
Tasha:I shall help you if the slightest amount of danger arises
Rayne:No, it would be best to just take my punsihment, if I'm going to ever rise in the ranks I have too. Tasha nodded solemly but accepted Rayne's decision.
Rayne walked into the main office escorted through corridors untill she came face to face with her captain in his lush padded section at one side of a desk. He rose vigilantly "You disobeyed me Rayne Stryker. You have broken the first rule of a soldier." his face was scorn.
"Yes sir." she was nochalant.
"You know the punishment don't you?" He grinned sadistically.
"Yes sir" she gulped.
"Do with her has you need" he flicked his hand at the men behind me. they grinned along with him, captial punishment was a sick enjoyment in the military.
"Yes sir!" they saluted and each took one of Raynes, she didn't resist as they took her to the punishment room and began to beat her repeatedly. She stood and took it.
she had too, or else she would be branded weak. Being a woman meant building a strong rep was hard, she coudn't falter that now!.

Evan sat in his house and thought. As soon as he was healed he would leave. Find a new house. That was one promise he made that he was gong to keep. Maybe he could find a different land where he was excepted.

After a two hour session, rayne stumbled out of the military, tasha ran to her side laying down so she could sit on her easy. Rayne's sword had been taken, her armour dented and underclothing ripped from the beating. The stares on her leaving now were quiet. pain sizzled everywhere but she kept her back straight as they left the vicinity.
Rayne.. tasha asked her question clear.
I'm alright, I just.. need some rum. Rayne quietly spoke her throat sore, her face prickling a black bruise forming around her left eye.
Tasha nodded taking her to the previous pub she had been too before, Rayne got off and stumbled inside ording two large glasses of rum to numb the pain going to claim her seat in the corner to soak it in.
