The Tomes of Truth (C.C.)

(Note: This is a more advanced character chat. Not exactly a three-paragraph-post-every-single-time-super-strict type of thing, just, don't do one-liners. If it's possible, aim for about three sentences on average.
Note 2: No, "pity me" characters. No "Oh, I hate these visions because they remind me of my father who killed my puppy in front of me right after my mommy died in an awful car crash which gave me this huge scar under my eye that I constantly trace with my finger." I know no one actual posts that kind of thing, but they constantly insinuate it and it gets kinda annoying.)

There is a group of children; some would call them psychics, some would call them prophets, some would call them freaks. Why this massive range of labels? These children are special. They are the Silent Ones. Oddly enough, the Silent Ones are the ones who most often disrupt classes in school, the ones who are always talking, the ones who seem to hate silence. It is not that they fear Silence itself, they fear what happens during it. When all is quiet, the Silent Ones recieve visions. They see the cause of past tragedies, they see things happening now elsewhere in the world, they see the future. They know the truth.

The Silent Ones write down or draw pictures of their visions in notebooks, and then try their best to forget about them. These notebooks, called Tomes of Truth, remain secret, their contents known only to the Silent One who wrote them. Now, someone has been attempting to steal the Tomes of Truth.

The children have to band together and stop this unknown foe. If someone other than a Silent One were to read the Tomes, they would have power enough to destroy the foundation of all society and, ultimately, the world.

I twist the combination lock until it clicks, allowing me to open my locker. The hallways are crammed at this "rush hour" so my visions have left me, at least for now.

I carefully take my Tome Of Truth from my backpack, clutching it to my chest protectively. What it held inside it was more destructive, potentially, than any man made weaponry.

I glance to my left and see Ivy a little ways down the hallway, chatting animatedly with another girl. One that wasn't one of us. Rolling my eyes purposefully when she looks my way, I retrieve the rest of my textbooks for periods 1-3, and toss them in my tote, but keep my Tome Of Truth safely tucked in the crook of my arm.

Molly: I go into art class, fully prepared to draw. I sit down next to the chattiest girl in school, like most of my classes, Lucy. I really disliked the girl but after a year and half you learn to love her, well I did. Today she was chatting about some kid who fell and broke his arm after being pushed down the stairs by a bully. Or something like that, I always changed the subject half way through all our conversations anyway. Soon she'll find her way onto the topic of makeup then guys then the latest scandel. It wasn't so bad sitting next to her and being her friend, I always knew the lastest and greatest. A small price to pay to not get sent to an asylum or something like that.

Amara walked down the hall to her first class, talking to her best, non-Silent friend, Jessica. They talked about anything and everything.

Amara had her Tome tucked under her arm, where it almost always was. That was the safest place for it. Jessica had learned not to question why Amara always carried it around. Amara had told her it was just full of doodles and poetry and stuff. Nothing interesting.

Molly: I was ready to go before the bell rang and was out the door the moment it did. I had my Tome clutched close to my chest in a protective hug the way I always carry it. I walked out so fast I didn't see the foot that was sticking out infront of me causing me to take a spill.
I was sprawled on the floor hurting with the dweebs laughing at me. I gather my books and get up to see some huge thug infront of me.
"Sorry." He smirked.
I didn't have to be a seer to know he was lying, sure I would know tonight but I already coud tell.

[Charlie]

Lenny, was bouncing out of art. His brown curly hair was parted on the side, in a Nick Jonas style. He considered himself the true Nick Jonas. A sketch book in his arms, he never let it go. It was his Tome, disguised as an average sketch book.

His blue eyes gazed up at a window. He quickly went back to focus on his locker, being ADD was quite hard on him.

He came into his next class late, "The party has arrived." he laughed as he announced himself. He had disrupted the class before it barely began.

Molly: I glumbly shoved by him and went to the nurses office. After getting a clean bill of health I trotted to class with a hall pass. I opened the door slowly, the teacher glared at me mid-sentence and went back to whatever he was speaking about. I sat next to Jane and let her worriedly chat to me, I chatted back ignoring the looks from the teacher and other students.
"What do you think the writer meant by this sentence.... Molly?"

I look up at him with confusion.
"He meant that not only did he hate the government he hated how lousy his love life was?" I say guess cause one out of seven chances I got it right.


"Pay attention." He resumed telling the class how wrong I was and making it an example to other students and blah blah blah...

He was not entirely nerdy, or entirely into music. Lenny was just weird. He sat at his desk as his teacher gave him a bad look.

He pulled out a binder, and set his sketchbook down and opened it. He began to draw, instead of writing notes. He went into a trance, but he still heard what the teacher said.

When asked a question he could answer with accuracy. After about thirty minutes of class his head started to hurt, he stopped drawing, and came out of his trance. Yet again is picture made no sense, none of them did. But he was happy with it.

Lenny rested his hand on his chin, and looked out the window, and daydreamed about the clouds, and what they looked liked.

Molly: I took my note book out, something I always kept close and guarded. I could feel the vision coming on, I couldn't stop this one. Grudgingly holding my pencil I closed my eyes and let the vision consume my hands and motor functions. I opened my eyes a few minute later and knew it looked like I was just taking notes.

I sighed and closed my book not even bothering to look at what I had written. I just was pleased that I had controlled myself more than I have in the past.

Sometimes I ended up screaming or worse, like when I let the vision get too intense. I always get huge headaches after school knowing who lied to me, every single person. It was usually alot, I just advil it and go to sleep. I just had to survive, nothing else.

The teacher said something about ancient Greece. Lenny knew it was wrong.

"That's not correct." Lenny said, removing his head from his hand, and looking at the teacher.

"Excuse me." The teacher said.

"That fact, its not correct." Lenny replied.

"I have a degree in history, Leonard. I am the teacher I know its correct."

Lenny knew this conversation would end up with him getting sent to the principals. "I know its not."

"Leonard, why must you argue with me?" The teacher asked, getting quite frustrated. Students started to giggle.

"Because you're wrong. Why would you want everyone going through life learning the wrong thing."

"I don't and their not." The teacher went to his desk and started writing a note. A note to explain why he was being sent to the principals office.

"Anything else you would like to add Mr. Bastik?"

Lenny nodded, "You're toupee is falling off." When Lenny said that the toupee the teacher was wearing fell off and landed on the note.

"Take this to the prinicpal. Now!" The teacher bellowed. Lenny grabbed his stuff and raced out of the room. He slowed down in the hallway and looked at the note. He rolled his eyes.

Molly: I smiled as the kid, Lenny, went to the principals office. A place I know very well, I have my own seat infact. I started to laugh as the teacher tried to regain his composter and his toupee.

He glared at the class and everyone fell silent, aside from me. I continued to laugh even knowing I would get detention, I'd like to meet that lenny kid. He seemed interesting.

I stood up and sauntered to the front of the class smiling taking my pink slip and putting it in a pocket. I was wearing a matching pink t-shirt that made the slip's color pop in the midst of the blue of my jeans.

Lenny was on a roll today, he decided just to piss more people off, he would take his sweet old time trying to get to the principals office.

Well he decided that before he felt another vision coming on. He set his sketch book down in the middle of the seemingly empty hallway. Grabbed a pencil from his pocket and began to draw. It wasn't that long, for this one was giving him a massive headache.

When he finished, he slammed the book shut, pocketed the pencil and sat their. He never looked at his drawings he never wanted to.
