Connor : i freeze. And I'd never see Avery again. My hand curls into a fist on the dashboard. "Yeah, that would suck." I say half heartedly after a moment. The second we're back at the garage, I'm out of the car and searching for my skateboard. I just really need a distraction right now.

Lucy: I frowned and looked at the ground sheepishly. "Your the only friend and family I got, Conner. I can't loose that." I kicked his skated board to him.

Connor : I stop it with my foot, staring at her. "But we're not even related." there goes my lame attempt at lighting up the mood. I scratch the back of my head and look somewhere else. "You wanna help me out with checking Blaza out?" I half smile at Lucy. "You know how I am under the hood."

Lucy: I smiled at him. "Fine, just let me go and change." I ran across the street to my place and up into my room. From here I could aways watch the garage. I took off my dirty jump suit and put on a pair of black jeans and a pink v-neck T-shirt. I run back and smile. "Let's go."

Connor : i smirk at her before turning around to find my tool box. I pick it up and drop it on to the work table beside my car. "So...what do I start with? Checking the oil...um, I know it's on the crank case..but," my smirk turns into a sheepish smile.

Lucy: I frown at him, he should at least know how to check it. Does he know nothing? It was the first thing people learn. I take the oil from the counter and place it in front of him. I started to coach him through. "Be careful like you would with a baby." I start.

(I don't know how to check oil but just act like Lucy is coaching him through... )

(it's ok, lol. I'm asking my dad how to do all this car stuff so don't worry, I rly don't kno much about cars)

Connor : I sigh, carefully searching through my tool box for the dipstick. Once I ind it, I carefully slide it down to the crank case. I pull it out a little too fast for Lucy's liking - I can tell from the way she's glaring at me. "Sorry," I mumble, checking to see if I need to add any oil. "okay, it looks all right." I let out a deep breath, glad that's over. Last time I sort of broke the dipstick. Yeah...

Lucy: I watch him like a hawk, he broke the dipstick last time. Right before the big race too. I had to sprint to the other garage and steal thiers, almost getting shot and hit by a car.

Connor : "I didn't break! I swear!" I swipe it around like a sword and poke her in the shoulder. "See?" I smile at her. "Shall I check out the differential?" I ask her, settin down the oil an wiping my hands on my jeans.

Lucy: I now had a huge spill of oil on my T-shirt. I gave him a look that said 'you idiot.' "Go ahead, if you break that I will break your face." I say monotone.

Connor : I snort. "I can handle this." half a lie. I did ok last time, but my second gear shift sent me ramming into every other car. I'll be extra careful with the differential breaks this time. I prop the hood of the car higher so I can get deeper into the real mechanical stuff. I hesitate before tightening a screw that I think should be tightened. Then I put the wrench in my mouth and - by hand - twist the converter that Lucy invented herself. (It makes sure the engine doesn't burn out if I brake too hard or try drifting. "You wanna cme in here and make sure I got everyhing?" I call out to her, now setting the wrench beside me.

(the differential is the series of shafts and rods that help change gears in a car. Does that help?)

Lucy: "Move aside noob." I push him aside and look around. "Wrench." I call. Taking the offered wrench I adjust the screw and loosen a few things. I double check everything making some last adjustments and stand up, offically covered in oil.

Connor : I smirk, reaching out a finger and wiping a streak of black off her cheek, it resembled some of the streaks on my chest and arms. "I don't know what I'd with out you Luce," I grin at her, then check the time. 8:41. "Hey, I think my new official tire-checker should be getting here soon. I had him shipped from Los Angeles," I chuckle to myself. "You wanna meet him? You can always take the rest of the night off, if you want to. I mean, I'm not trying to get rid of you or anything," I grimace.

Lucy: I held my head high and placed a large funnel on my head as if a crown. "You'd be lost, thats what. I will let you bring this person into my presence if you must." I say in a british accent trying to be queenly.

Connor: I bow to her, laughing. "Of course, your highness." I glance up when headlights flash over us. I jog out from the garage and am almost hit by a black SUV. A tall figure steps out, stretching and yawning.
"Hey," I call out to him. He steps closer and i get to see his face. he has dark brown eyes and sun bleached-brown hair. He's raising an eyebrow.
"Dude, next time send a plane or somethin'. I spend enough time around cars. riding around in one for a few days is makin' me sick."
I half smile. "Elliot, right?"
He grins. "You got that one, pretty boy." he looks behind me. "And who's your pretty lady friend?" he smiles at Lucy.

Lucy: I chuckled and smirked, "He wished I was his lady friend." I took the funnel off and walked up the so-called 'Elliot'. I stuck out my hand "Lucy Fairchild. You are?"

Connor : i wave to the driver as he pulls out of our drive way.
"Elliot Spare," he takes her hand just as i'm turning around. He doesn't let go. "Nice to meet you, Lucy."
I cross my arms over my chest. "They told me you're the best they've got." i interrupt him. Elliot turns to me, letting go of Lucy's hand.
"They ain't lying. I can change a tire faster than Heith Gould from the last races." he claims proudly. both of my eyebrows raise.
"that fast, huh?"
"Correct," he drawls, smiling widely at me.

Lucy: I smirked, a tire changer. He would believe that I was chief engeneer. "Nice t' meet cha' ." I say copying his accent.

Connor : I walk past Elliot and into the garage. "Better prove yourself then, Ell," I say a little more harsh than I first thought.

Connor : I watch as Elliot saunters over to Blaze. He looks her over, kneeling down in front of her and scratching his chin. He straightens after a moment. I sigh, pulling a tire of the wall and rolling to him. He stops it with a hand, looking thoughtful. If you didn't hear him brag about his skills, you'd think he was one of those real sensitive type guys. I wait until he looks up to throw him the drill and plop down on the work bench.
"Start whenever," I prompt him when he doesn't move. He nods, a grin spreading across his face. And then he's down by th wheel, changing the tire. Pretty fast too. The shortest time is seven-point--
"Done."
I stare at him in amazement. He was good. I smile. "Welcome to the Westin Garage, Elliot."

Dayna slipped out of her garage andstrolled down the hill. She wanted to get a peek at the competition before the race started.
