After I get patched up I go to the strongroom looking for the girl and the commander

I sat outside of the strongroom. The commander was inside holding an 'important' meeting. I always said he needed to get his priorities straight though... I turned to see the boy approaching and I stood up bowing my head.

I sighed briefly before explaining further, "It's a family code. Something like 3 or 4 generations ago my great great grandfather decided it was immoral to shake peoples hand, so no one in my family does it cause that's how we were raised..." My voice lowered to a murmur, "No matter how stupid we think it is."

"Uhm. Probably like an hour or two, depending how 'important' this one is." I looked at the door to the strongroom where the meeting was being held. "If you're really that eager for work I can tell you the 24th American Air Force division needs help transporting stuff and fixing their aircraft."

"Hmmm." I thought for a minute. "It's the only base in the Drake's Empire that has an Airforce, Army and Naval sector. It's the Highest security base in the world." I brought my finger to my chin as I thought of more, "Over there." I pointed to one of the hills out side the base, "That's Zale mountain, and on the other side is Okre hill, we're in the valley of the two."
Then it struck me, and I hoped to look at him excitedly. "And it's supposedly haunted by the ghosts of the drakes that fought at the cailica battle. Supposedly whenever enemies come they've been seen trying to defend the base like they did all that long ago." I told him.

"I don't know." I smiled at him. "I've been stationed here for 2 years, and no enemy of the empire has managed to get within 10 miles of this base. No matter how hard they tried." I continued walking.

"They've tried..." I shook my head in disappointment. "The enemy has tried so many things, but the uniqueness of where the base is makes most of it difficult, if not impossible. On both mountains we have heavy anti-air guns, and there's a ground censor that monitors any sound within a mile. Including underground." I explained as the area we were heading to finally came into sight.
"Some of them tried to take the sea route. They had satellites and everything, monitoring everything that happened on the base. They failed to notice the sea pickets we had set up just a mile or so outside where their satellites covered..."

"Because in the beginning no one could get along with eachother." I began. "The Americans and Drakes were at war, and the Americans were to stubborn even after a treaty was signed. The Mexicans and Canadians were trying to prove themselves. The British were to proud. The Germans, French, and Italians couldn't trust eachother. The Russians were to full of themselves. The Chinese and Japanese had to much honor. The rest of the countries didn't even know this base existed until recently."

I thought to public release of the base. "The Drakes are bred on war, we learn it from the day we're born. Your kindergarten core classes are Math, Reading, Writing, Recess, History, and Basic Tactical movements. Because of that we're raised to believe we can't lose a fight, that's why we didn't come here right away." I paused remembering my draft day. "We had no clue what we were against, and we thought we could easily win. We reserve this base as a last resort, if we've lost every battle we've had and are at risk of losing the war. It's like the ace of a hand."

"Hard life?" I giggled. "As a country yea I guess you could say we have. But I've had it extremely easy. Almost to easy really..." The last sentence was silent as I went deep into thought.
We arrived at the area where the 24th American Air Force was being held. "Kingston!" I yelled to one of the pilots, who replied by looking up, waving, and then continuing to carry pieces of metal to one of the damaged aircraft.

"Yeah..." I turned to him. "Most of the planes were wrecked during a counter-raid about an hour ago. All twenty six airforces now stationed here are trying to repair their planes. But the 24th American took a harder hit then most of them." I told him. "I'd be helping if I could, but I wasn't even supposed to leave that building..."
