well here goes my first post :S
Aiden: I hadn't tried at all during that performance. And my boss could tell. It's not like it was my fault. The song was just basic minor chord progressions. I take my time unplugging and putting my guitar away so that I don't have to face anyone. I could make it out of here without another thought and no one would find me again. It was just that easy. But I knew I couldn't leave unscathed from Abrahms anger.
"Gabriel!" He shouts as I lope off stage slowly. I look up, my frown deepening. He looks about ready to burst. "What the hell was that? You call that a performance? You're fired!" He screams, stomping off in the opposite direction. I breathe a sigh of relief. An easy out is thankful any day. I slip my guitar case over my shoulder, trudging toward the door with a yawn.

oh okay.
there could maybe be a huge string of 'underground' music places that people are hired to play at. but they can't quit. they can only leave if they're fired (you know, they can't have slackers in the music business)

(from what otd and i were chatting earlier i pictured the people who owned the "school" lent them out as performers, and basically saw how long they could play till they were sick... and they did it over and over an the kids could do nothing about it.
