I rose from the shrine, the music growing closer as its creator moved. I stared out into the trees up at the sky, I used to love this place, so did kaim, as a dragon he loved the open air here.

Re: Raena and the Forty Thieves ((OPEN!))
Setting a sigh, her eyes trailed to the person at the shrine. An elf...? It looked similar to the person yesterday. An elf jewel too... This was all adding up.
Pressing her lips to the orcarina, she started to play a tune her mother taught her whivh was taught to her by her mother. She knew it was an old elven song, one that was forgotten. Her family line was told to keep it and guard it; there was something tied it.

Re: Raena and the Forty Thieves ((OPEN!))
Suddenly the music changed, I switched my head to look at the player, it was the thief from before. I knew this song, the song of the old, the song my queen sings in times of sorrow.
I listened to her play, my memories of the queen swooping back to me, how she had argued that a peaceful tactic to our banishment was the way to accept it. How she sang the song of the old when I retaliated against her will, stirring a political argument among the nobles and towns folk alike.
The song of sorrow, a song remembering the time when the three great races, Humans, elves and dragons were at each others throats. A time of choas one they didn't live harmony. Which was happening again now, the humans seperating from the harmony, banishing the other two races.
If that choas were to never come again, the three races must be joined, which was the reason for my plight to kill the king of the humans.
"Where did you learn, such a song?" I asked her when she had finished, my cloak hood shadowing over my face till. No race other than the elves remembered the song or sorrow of the past, at least that was what was thought.

Re: Raena and the Forty Thieves ((OPEN!))
Violet raised her eyebrow, a small smile playing on her face, "I knew you'd know it," she flipped her hood up, placing the ocarina back into it's little pouch to her side, "My mother taught it to me if you should know, it was one my grandmother was taught once upon time when she was a little girl," she shrugged as her bird landed gracefully on her shoulder, silent as night and beyond. She took out from under her coat a cross-shaped locket, pressing it open a small, square, folded-up piece of paper was inside, "She said that it was important and shouldn't be forgotten..." looking at the note, her grandmother's neat scrawl on it. With a little reluctant bite of her lip, she showed it to the girl standing there, her eyes half-blazing from behind the hood; she had a feel for that sort of thing.

I took the note from her, it was true, the note said that the song was of old memories of which if forgotton would cause a great sadness to the worl.
Of course she was right, if the three races were to again collide, death would be the only result.
"This song, is a important memory of the past, to those that understand it, it is an everlasting reminder of our ancestors mistakes. A warning if you may." I paused, a warning close to coming true again.
"Who taught your grandmother?" I asked on a whim, the girl may not know, however, she probably didn't know the meaning of the song.

Re: Raena and the Forty Thieves ((OPEN!))
"It was a friend of hers," she recalled, "She was an elf, lost in the forest on the run from the path of humans riding dragons like common steeds, nothing that was right. She was injured and unwell, her whole self close to death. My grandmother took her in after a group of kids found her. She was the healer of the town, she was quite famous..." she bit her lip, a small tear falling down her cheek, "She died four year, she taught me the song when she first found out of her illness; a slow uncurable killer," her hand wiped away the droplet.
Her eyes looked to her though jer face was covered with her own hood, her hands gently on her cheek trying to calm herself to tell the rest of the tale.
"Anyway, soon the elf and my grandmother became friends as the injured girl got nursed back to health. They used to venture out to the forest to get medicinal herbs and such. One day, the elven girl told my mother who the people were; they were hunting her down because she had taken what was rightfully hers, a huge glistening blqck jewel called 'The Oraclium', one of a kind and is meant to have immense power to those of pure heart only. She had taken it, claimong it was hers. So, my grandmother agreed to keep quiet about it, but another night, she woke up to see her gone, leaving a note and this orcarina and some notes and words on her bed," she pulled out a sheet of paper, "This is the letter, my grandmother had the rest of it. Anyway, she taught my mother the song, but when she died under mysterious cirmutances when I was a baby she took me in teaching me all I know..."
Looking at the elf, she searched for any emotion; she didn't want pity, she just wanted to know whether she was capable of something that isn't negative towards Violet.

"I have not heard of an Oraclium" I said more to myself, if her story was true I probably should know, however that only depended on whether the information was of importance to me. Maybe I should find out what it is.
"For an elf to teach the song of old to a human, your grandmother must have been a proud woman, of great skill and admiration to her work as a healer. It is unknown for the song to be taught from race to race, it is the duty for each race to pass down the song to their own kind. To pass the song on to one of the three races other than your own, is considered a high honor. I do not know of this elf, but she must have seen your grandmother worthy."
I paused, unsure of how to say what I wanted to, she did not know I was an elf, I had to word my thoughts correctly.
"Elves carry on the song of old, never forgetting the memories it holds. Some of the dragons know of it, though many young ones do not. Humans, have completely ignored the old tale, the history of the forgotton past, thus they no longer pass down the song of old, no longer knowing the meaning or protection it holds. I fear you are one of very few in your race who know of it" I answered again touching the shrine, the dedication to the lives taken.

"I gathered that," she nodded, looking at the letter before putting it back in her pocket, the one held close to her chest. With a small smile on her face, Styler took off into his little cave just north of the forest edge, right along in the middle of a swamp; suclution was his game, he didn't like anyone else minus Violet herself.
"So, I heard you were looking for Raena? I know roughly where you could find her, she's a tough person to get to meet with to be honest though," she shrugged and looked at her shoulder, picking up a feather from it, a chuckle coming her lips.
The morning sun seemed to be disappearing, covered by the cloyd and faint fog of the bog.
"What is the song about? I mean, I was never really able to read Elf and unfortunatly for my grandmother and my mother they've never met an elf before so I need some help there. Care to do so?"

Re: Raena and the Forty Thieves ((OPEN!))
I raised an eyebrow though she could not see
"So you know of my orgin?" I mused, taking down my hood, letting my slender features show, my dark black hair and moss green eyes, ears pointing out of the waves my hair formed.
"Yes, it is of great importance I meet with her." I paused.
"The song of old, tells of the sadness our three races once indulged upon. A time forgotten, a time when we were all at war with one another. Happiness was non existent, blood soaked the lands. The humans fought with numbers and determination, Elves their agility and strength, Dragons their fire and flight. There was never any peace, any happiness, it was said the sun died red with the amount of blood shed that rose each day. Diesease and famine a spread amoung the lands, along with many natural disastors. It wasn't untill the three rulers of the races, commenced a truce, it was then that the three races began to harmonise, help one another, that peace resumed." I took a breath waiting for the girl to take it all in. "Legend says, that if the three races were to distrupt that harmony, then that same red sun would rise again, a mournful sorrow shining on the lands. No life would be safe. The song is too remind us of that forgotton time, to remind us and warn us of the price of not harmonising with one another" I finished my speech.
She knew the song, she should know the meaning, it would be good for one human to know at least. I can't tell her that I wish to kill the king because of this, that and my anger at his banishment.
But maybe she will understand the banishment of my people and the dragons, means the starting of the end of our harmony.

"Okay, thanks," she smiled before looking at her, "Yeah, I've been told that I'm a keen observer, you sticking your head out of the window looking down at the commotion below so I kinda saw, plus you're unnaturally tall and have extreme agility. If you were human then I would be a slug compared to you so it's all good," she sighed and rolled eyes.
She looked to where her bird had flown off to, something was up; when he arrived he always did his little call of authority thing to scare off anything inside; but it fell silent. With a grunt, she slipped past her and ran to the swamp place.
You could see the destruction that the humans had caused previously all thoughs years ago. The forest now long dead, the patches of black and deep brown, nothing that is like the scene around the shrine.
"Styler?" she called as she stepped up to the swamp, looking at the cave.
"Violet, good you came..." a voice hissed out of there as my bird was thrown out, blood covered. Dead.
She stammered her words, half-tempted to wade through the bog and smack the person one; Styler was her friend, not a pet, ever since she she hatched him from an egg all thoughs years ago...

The crawk of a birds final call attracted my attention, along with the girls sudden leaping into the swamp, I pulled up my hood again, running after her, I came upon a cave. Standing beside her I drew one of my daggers, the sound of the voice and sight of the dead bird told me this person was hostile towards the thief. I refused to let a human with the knowledge of the past die.

"Elf? That isn't fair..." the voice boomed through the forest, a man clad in black slipped out, a blade in his hand, "He came into my cave, that was invasion, you care to pick a fight about it?"
"No because this is my land," she put her hand up, "This was my grandmother's land and it's now mine. Deeds? Got them," she slipped out the papers, "And don't worry, I will get you out," she slid her Katana out, "This isn't gonna be an easy thing..."
He chuckled, his voice cutting into Violet; he sheathed his sword, a smile on his face, "I know who you are, just that I know more than you. That bird wasn't important for your future..."
Future? she was good for the moment, she had soup in the fridge, that was gonna be her lunch but that was as far as she was thinking...

I frowned, how did he know what I was?
This wasn't her land either, it was my cousins , though I feel now is not the time to correct her.
"Whether her bird was important to her future or not, gives you no right to take it's life. Taking a life, is very, brutal and unelegant. Leave this place, you are unwelcome" I sheathed my dagger, trying to show an offensive body language, maybe this can be solved with words.

He chuckled again, his eyes meeting Violet's, he senta devilish smile over, his eyes blazing bright, "We'll talk again Hylia..." and with that he disappeared into the dark dead woods behind, his disappearence not in regret.
"Let's bury the little guy..." she walked over to the tree that hung over the swamp which, if you're good at this, will get you across without getting covered in gunge that were trees once upon a time.
She clambered up gracefully before putting her arms out to the side for balance; it wasn't something that she needed to do, it was a kind of ritual to which she had done every week since she was five minus a couple of times like holidays and Christmas.
She smiled as she flipped herself over, landing well-in from the edge. Flipping her hood down, she scooped up the bird. Dead. Stone cold. Her best friend and companion. The bastard!
Walking into the cave, she fingered the many pictures and things of her own, the man must have seen all this and read her name. She stopped as she peered at the pictire she drew, the bird as a little thing; even then you could easily understand what the pictire was.
She felt the footsteps of the elf girl walk in. That reminded her, "I never caught a name from you."
