Ashe: "You got another amazing pep talk up your sleeve, Kato?" I ask him as the girls walk off. I really want to beat Ridge's ass now. He deserves it. He's your run of the mill multi-purpose asshole for you. Or, that what's Neva calls guys like him. But only if they break up with her. I smile a little to myself.

*tries to remember post from earlier*

"Bye babe, I'll see you later!" He calls out. "Both of you." A couple of people behind him snigger.
Disgusting bastard.
"Well, you did just beat his ass. And you proved that he couldn't take it." I smile slightly. "See you on the other side." I quoted, walking down the length of the pool with Rory as Saffron joined Ashe. Her face was cool, calm and virtually expressionless. She was never one to let nerves get to her, even when she was the first racer, as she was in this relay. Thankfully, I was last, so if anyone messed up- I'm not pointing any fingers at Rory- we would still have a chance.

Ashe: I whistle while i walk with Saffron to the other side. None of the guys really wanted to get to know her - i don't know why, she's nice. Sometimes - so i took it upon myself to try. "So Saffron," I start, and I have a feeling she knows what I'm trying to do because she gives me this look. I can't really tell what it means, but I'm not sure if it's a good thing. I clear my throat and smile a little. "Are you pumped or what?" I ask her cheerfully.

Saffron: I raise an eyebrow and stop walking. "Unless you're going to the drinks machine with me, you're walking the wrong way." God, boys were so thick. I mean, they'd think it was sensible to have Monroe in every race if I hadn't worked out who was doing what. I shake my head and carry on walking, taking a small purse from the inside of my bikini top and fetching out a dollar.

Kato: "So, Rory... been practicing every night?" I asked, and to my horror, he replied:
"Nah, I haven't been in a pool since my last race!" I smiled, and I forced one back. I should mention that he came last in his last race. And, unless he was lucky, this may be his last race. "Funny, eh?" he continued.
"Uh, yeah, that is funny." I laughed nervously. We were doomed.

Ashe: I blink and look up to the hall way to where the vending machines sat. Ooh..."Oh, yeah, of course. I was just gonna get...a gatorade..." I sigh. I fail at this. I go up to the machine, and before Saffron can put any money in, I reach my fingers into the coin slot. I fiddle around with it before grinning and plucking out two quarters. Just enough for what i need. "Admit it, I'm a genius," I smirk, pushing them back through the slot and pressing B5.

Vivian: I sit down a little more annoyed than I usually am. Neva had gone to get some popcorn and was just getting back.
"Hey," she swallows down the mouthful of chewed concession food before sitting down beside me. "Popcorn?" She waves the bag under my nose. I don't budge.
"Nah."
"Oh c'mon! Ok, maybe that guy was a little...confident. But that doesn't mean you have to hate him! He likes you," she nudges me with an elbow. I roll my eyes over to her.
"Yeah? Well he can go drown," I mutter. Then remember. "God, Nev, I'm sorry. You know what i meant." I look over at her pleadingly. She was nibbling on a kernel of popcorn, not looking at me.
"S'okay," she mumbles. I run a hand through my hair in frustration. You see, Neva's younger sister drowned. Claire was only 5, and it was at the pond down the road from her house. Claire had begged Neva to go with, but Nev refused and Claire went anyway. She was gone for 6 hours before Neva noticed. But it was too late.
I swallow, feeling guilty to the bone. I should've watched what i had said. Of course, though, i was being me and didn't.

Saffron: "You're a thief." I say, putting in my dollar, pressing G2 and recieving a Red Bull though the last thing I need is a set of wings in a swimming competition... I take his drink from him and throw my purse to the announcer. "Look after that." I tell him, walking back to the side opposite Kato and Rory. I click open the key of my drink, downing it in two go's. After throwing the can at Ridge, who curses me, I watch as Ashe follows back after me.

Ridge tapped on the touchscreen of his phone, seeing who had their bluetooth on. 152 results... I flicked through the name list, sighing. At least it was something to do.

Ashe: I snicker a little when she tosses the can at Ridge. Hey, the guy deserves it! I strip off my shirt and toss to the side. "Let's do this!" I grin at everyone. Rory yawns a little, Saffron looks focused, and Kato looks a little nervous. "Hey, oughta do good! You got me," I point to myself with a thumb. I get a smirk from Rory and a raised brow from Saffron.

Saffron: "I'm guessing you don't want your drink then..." I trail off dramatically, clicking the key as I stand at the edge, motioning to pour it in the pool. I get a few laughs from the crowd, but stay completely expressionless, looking up at him from my curved postition, leaning over the water.

Kai: I shrug slightly at Ashe from where I was standing, and begin consciously shaking my hands as I normally do when anticipation reaches me.

Ashe: "Whoa whoa whoa, now don't be doing anything too irrational there, Saf," I walk slowly up to her, like she's about to jump off the empire state building. I reach a long arm out to her. "Slowly hand over the G2, and no one gets pushed in," i say carefully, trying to hold back a smile.

Neva: I can't believe she'd bring that up. I'm sure it wasn't on purpose, but it still hurt. And it was even my fault. If I'd been a good sister and gone with her, she probably wouldn't have died...I toss a handful of popcorn in my mouth and stew silently. I don't even acknowledge Viv's apology. I just want this race to be over so that I can go home.

Saffron: Wrong. It was a B5. ...So I told him that. "It isn't a G2, idiot. Mine was, but this is B5." I roll my eyes. If I did do anything, the organisers would be onto me. Instead, I rested it down against the back wall and readied myself into position.

Kato: I began breathing loudly, when Rory inturupted. "Is Cassie here?" He asked, reminding me.
"No," I answered, but he was still looking around.
"I think Amy replaced her." He says.
I look to him. "You know people from RedClover?" I ask. He replies with a nod. Apparently he used to date one of them last year. It's funny, he doesn't look the type.

Ashe: I sigh, leaning over to pick up the bottle and snapping the cap open and continuing to twist it. I take a long swig before setting it down and belching loudly. I rub my stomach. "Ah, ok, now I'm ready to win a race." I stretch behind Saffron, ready to get on the moment she's off. I really hope Rory does better than last time...

Vivian: "Hey, it's time for the race to start," I put in after it's been too silent between us. Neva just nods and looks to the pool where everyone was getting ready. I spot Rory getting ready to jump in after Saffron. I stifle a laugh. "Dude, they're letting Rory swim!" I smile a little when Neva snorts. We all think he's not exactly...fit, for the swim team.

Saffron: "Disgusting." I mutter, and recieve a nasty glance from the warty girl in the other team as I ready myself. I mock her scrunched up face and turn to the front.
"Racers are ready!" the announcer calls. "3!" he calls, and the crowd calls out the other two numbers. When the last number is heard, and the foghorn sounds, I darts into the water, and barely a ripple shows as I go under. I open my eyes. One thing I had in common with that so called champion was that we prefered to not wear goggles when we swam. I opened my eyes, seeing the bright red costume just behind me of the other girl under the water. I surfaced and sped up, pulling my slender arms out of the water and pushing myself forward with my hands as my legs propelled behind. I had reached the edge without even realising, and I surfaced from my last breath, seeing Rory running up and virtually cannonballing into the water, a huge splash. I shook my head, grabbing Kato's hand as he helped me out of the pool.

Ashe: Oh. My. God. He made a tidal wave with that dive! You can't call that a dive! Jeez, I shake my head, taking my spot. I stretch my arms one last time, shaking them out and evening out my breathing as Rory swims for me. I mean, he has strong arms with precise movements...but those precise movements aren't exactly right. I sigh, bracing myself. I dive in as soon as I legally can. THe guy in the other lane is already a few strokes a head of me. I torpedo through the water like, well, a torpedo. I roll my shoulders forward in the breaststroke, overtaking the other team in a matter of seconds. Then, when i get close to the other side, i slip under the water and simply float to the edge so that Kato can continue on. I resurface, pushing my hair away from my face and rubbing my eyes of water.

Kato: Now was the time to show off... I leapt into the water, twisting as I did so, and piercing through the water just as gracefully as Saffron had done. I went right under, my stomach parallel with the floor, but tried a new tactic my coach suggested. I pushed against the floor, my body surfacing, but my head remaining underwater, and I swam like hell. I didn't know what the crowd were doing or saying up there, the sound was drowned out. I opened my eyes to the blurry chlorine filled pool, seeing blues and shimmers everywhere, letting out a spray of bubbles, watching them float upwards as they tickled my chin. I reached the edge a few seconds after, standing up comfortably and breathing for the first time since throwing myself into the water. One breath. I was definately improving. I fist pump, sending a splash as my elbow hit the water, shouting "Come on!" and watching the defeated guy come swimming towards the edge. I grinned widely up at Rory, who had an even wider one on his own face.

Ashe: "Yeah! You go Kato! That's how we do it!" I shout over the pool to him. Then I get out, my toes and fingers were starting to look prunish. I slip out, dragging Saffron into a hug and jumping and down. "We did it! We won!" I sing, laughing as she scowls at me for a moment.

Vivian: I shrug, exchanging a glance with Neva before shouting myself. "Yeah Kato!" I shout, Neva whooping beside me. We clap and laugh, like our last conversation never happened.

Kato: Rory offers a fist, but I drag myself out instead. It was only one race, but it felt good.

Saffron: "Let go, please." I looked up in slight disaproval, pushing him away with my hand. "I don't like to be manhandled."

Ashe: "Well this man will respect that and let you go," i grin at her just as Neva and Viv come up to us.
"Hey, you guys did great! We should all go out for ice cream or something later to celebrate!" Neva beams. Vivian nods in agreement.
"Yeah, and then I can meet all those guys I ran into when I...um, stopped by earlier," she half smiles sheepishly. I have to laugh at that.
"Sure, sure. I'm sure I get Kato and Rory to come with." I spoke to soon. Here comes Ridge. I press my lips together. I wonder what he has to say now.

Ridge: "You know, we would have done a lot better without you on the team. I could have replaced you easily. I could have won it on my own, in fact." I grin as I see Neva and put my arm around her. "Alright babe?" I ask. "I've made plans for the two of us, and your friend, to get pizza when the races have finished." I tell her, winking.

Kato: I walk towards the other two, or five now, seeing Ashe let go of Saffron. I chuckle and walk faster, though Rory struggles to keep up. "Hey, guys!" I say as I greet them, the same smile on my face.

Vivian: I roll my eyes, ignoring them. "You did great, Kato, am I right? Nice way to end the race," I congratulate him politely.
"Yeah...actually, i was just planning on going home after this..." Neva trails off. I shoot her a look. "I mean, I was gong out with these guys." I slap my hand to my forehead. "Sorry," she murmurs to me. I rub my temples. Oh dear lord...

Ashe: I tsk at Ridge, pulling Neva to my side with an arm around her waist. "Eh, sorry there Ridge, buddy," I say with fake concern. "But Neva's already taken," I stage whisper as she pokes me in the arm with a scowl.

Ridge: "The four of us can go then!" I exclaim with a laugh. "And to a hotel room afterwards." I wink at the other girl, smiling again.
Kato: "Ridge, just leave off." I say, and Rory stands behind me, scared of confronting the famous Ridge.
Saffron: I shook my head at Ridge, walking up to him and giving him a firm slap. "That'll do you good." I tell him.

Vivian: I smirk when Saffron smacks Ridge. Hey, he deserved it. Neva steps away from Ashe and side steps toward me.
"Um, i kinda need to drop my house to get my purse...maybe we could all just meet there, you know?" Neva puts in. Ashe shrugs.
"Yeah, i can give you a ride home. We'll see the rest of you there?" He raises his eyebrows and looks around at everyone. I nod in agreement.
"Sounds good to me. I'll probably just stop by the park near there and shoot some hoops while i wait for you guys--"
"Oh wow Viv, you're always doing that!" Neva rolls her eyes at me.
I shrug, "I gotta practice for tryouts when school starts."
Ashe steps in then, "Viv? You're good at basketball. Nev? Meet me by my car. are we clear?"
Ok, so Neva plays volleyball, and if you give us enough time - which isn't that long really - we'll start up a debate at which sport is better. We're very competitive friends, as you can see.
"Got it Ashe," i sigh. Neva just nods.
