Jarvis Trenton stood on the one and only dock on the island. It was a small, wooden affair, and he hated it, along with all the bugs that swarmed over it. If only the boat on the horizon would arrive faster so the butler could retreat to the house.

Vaughan Rainsford leaned back with her arms propped against the side of the boat. It was a nice day, for England. At least it wasn't raining. The wind tossed her dark curls and whipped past her face, and she enjoyed the sensation, even though she knew her hair would be hard to untangle later. The woman's pistol pressed against the small of her back; she never seemed to be off the job.

Topher leaned on the railing of the boat. He felt almost at home on it. But at the same time he got an ominous feeling, but that wouldn't stop him from loving the water. He definitely looked as if he belonged on the boat. He melde with it's movement on the water.
He looked around about the same number of guys and girls. He hoped conversations wouldn't come. Well he hoped he wouldn't have to contribute to them. He found he tended to just confuse people when he did.
He turned his gaze back out to the water, he took in the see air. He wondered if one day he could be an actual sailor.

Mikhail, upon seeing the distant land, found himself back in reality. His thoughts of his work and home were shut down as if crushed by cement. All he thought of now was his new start.

It was only a few weeks ago when he first got the letter at work. He had just finished examining a trauma patient and was looking over the patient's file on his way to his office. When he looked around his desk for a pen, he noticed a white envelope on his desk, addressed to him in cursive. There was neither his home or work address nor was there a sender's address. Just his name. At first, he wondered, but then as he studied the invitation, he just accepted it as a sign of a new life.

Now he found himself in a boat with six other people on their way to the approaching land and he didn't know what to do. Was he to be friendly with these strangers? Or cold? It wasn't like his workplace. He would be able to study all of them in their natural habitat like animals and sort out who would be alright to talk to and who not to.

Sadly, this was not the place. Everyone was either tense or busy with their own thoughts. They all knew what to do. Well, that's what they appeared to be.

Mikhail ceased trying to study the people. Once we get on land, we'll know, but for now, it's time to catch up on my reading. He pulled out a novella from his bag and started to read. Reading always kept his other side calm.

Topher was now more curious about the people on the boat. He seemed to be rather young compared to the rest of them. He also seemed quite a bit taller and morr muscular. He probably should stop comparing himself though. No need to repeat past events. He turned his gaze back to the water pretending he was rowing. He was practicing without practicing.

Mair looked for the first time to the people. They all were different, unique. No one had spoke, as if they weren't allowed to. This puzzled her. The night was close by, and the clouds were dark in color. She could smell the rain in the air. She looked back to the waters, seeing the light reflect off the water. The faint sound of music was in the air. She couldn't hear the music others heard, all she heard was the song Into the Ocean by Blue October.

"To end it all," She whispered. She struggled to restet the urge to tough the water, for she knew if she did, she'll be head first drowning. Though the urge was strong, she left from the edge to find something to drink.

From first glance Topher did not look like the little nerd who was socially awkward. In fact he looked quite the opposite. He knew how to dress nicely, But it could be misleading. It made girls and others approach him. Thats when they would realize he was socially innept. He stood there looking out, not bothered by much.
Being on this boat in particular reminded him of his modeling job that he failed at. The director of the shoot approached him on the street and didn't even try to see if he could do anything. Sure he knew how to place his body to make it look good, but when they placed other people with him he became quite awkward.

In truth the pile of rocks they were quickly approaching looked anything but lovely. Only a small patch of beach showed, the rest was harsh rock cliff.The one small dock was hardly visible from here; it was a skipper's nightmare.

Topher looked at her, and looked down. His eyes shifted from place to place not focusing on a single thing for to long. "I, uh, I, it was, um, invitation." He finally managed to stutter. He wished he could have jumped off the boat right then. He gave a meek smile at her. He ruined what ever suave facade he had.

Vaughan, smiled back, a little lopsidedly, as usual. His manner amused her.
"Did the rest of you get invitations as well?"
She was curious as to the identity of their host, so it was only natural that she use her skill as a detective until she knew the answer.

Mikhail looked at the woman. He concluded that she either had a thing against silence or just wanted to make the first move. He didn't care actually. He just wanted to get this little meeting over and done with.

Mikhail set his book aside and leaned back against the creaky railing. He had to cautious about his weight on the railing or end up in the questionable water. He looked at the woman.

"Yes," he said, his voice hoarse from the silence. For a moment, his slight Russian accent surprised him. "An old friend actually."

Of course, he had no real evidence to support that fragment of a statement. He just found the name familiar, like a sense of deja vu or reading something nostalgic.

It was then Topher really noticed the amount of people. It bugged him. It got inside him, made him feel uneasy. He awkwardly placed his hand on the railing behind him. He tapped his foot. There were more people here than he initially thought. The more people their were, the more he felt odd and awkward.He pressed himself closer to the railing, perhaps to get out of the group of people if he could.

Sorry I haven't been posting, this is currently happening at like 3 in the morning for me Rolling Eyes

The sight of the water was one that filled Digby with dread. He never really liked the ocean ever since he watched a horror with a bunch of his friends...though he knew he was just being stupid.
"Yeah, invitation," he nodded, joining in, "Though I was reluctant at first."
As he whispered the last part, he cast his eyes out to the sea again with a sigh. He didn't know why he took the invite, it was just that his raging curiosity got the better of him again.

She still couldn't place the name, though it was familiar enough. Then again, Owens was a popular surname.

Mair looked to everyone and noone. Hoping not to be in the way. Her thoughts went from one thing to another, so it was very to focus on all that was going on. She reached into her purse and looked to the invition, the paper looked old and anique.

Mikhail looked towards the inching land. It was so close, yet seemed so far. He didn't like illusions. It made him wonder why the world wanted to create illusions. Why stray away from reality? It's waiting anyway.

"A friend of my father's. A complex character actually. Boisterous one moment, serious the next," he said, as if to himself.

Topher raises a hand, "I know. Well I would think I would. But I know, many people of influence. Well if you want to call them that. I mean. Well out of the people I know I have never met, to my knowledge that is. I have never met an Owens." he stopped himself from stuttering. He was never good in groups his little spew was like a chapter out of a novel he could have shortened it. But the people stopped him.
