Valorie: I stared at the cup in front of me. The hot brown liquid steamed and I blinked. I was still unaccustomed to being out and about. I dipped my finger into the cup. Steam hissed around my hand. I brought my finger out again. The coffee dripped from it. My skin remained a perfect tan shade.

June: I sat in the coffee shop quivering from fear and exhaustion. I kept getting these phone calls and emails telling me to go to the coffee shop and meet a stranger but a stranger stranger than normal. At first I deleted the messages but they soon became threatening, I finally came and here I am. Scared, lonely and clueless.

June: I looked around and took another shaky breath they weren't here yet, maybe they wouldn't come after all. I almost sorted at my own stupidity, of course they were coming,they wouldn't go through all that threatening trouble to end up being a no show.

June; I smiled at her putting my acting training to work. "No, sorry. My cat... Little Lancelot, well, he's at the vet. He was..h-hit by a car, and I'm worried. My poor little knight.." I let a tear drip down my cheek. This wasn't to hard to pull off, I was already scared enough to cry and quite worried so all I had to do was create the situation and I was all good. Well, other than the fact I was probably going to be killed.

June: I knit my brows together. "I do hope so... I love him so much!" I said hoping she'd leave me be soon. I did also hope that she'd stay, so I didn't have face my potential killer. I felt the two thoughts wage battle on my poor frightened brain and I shivered.

Valorie: I glanced over at a table where a girl was crying. Her friend was trying unsuccessfully to cheer her up. I dipped my finger back into the coffee. Pain did not register only a prodding at the corner of the brain that informed there was discomfort present in my finger.

Valorie: I looked over at the two girls again. They looked like locals and if I was going to blend in, I would need friends. I got up and went over to their table. Maybe not the best time to make new friends what with one girl crying, but it was as good a time as any. "Excuse me...sorry to interrupt--and sorry about your...pet--I was just wondering...do you two live around here?"

Valorie: School? Oh, yes that hell that children are subjected to. "Ah, yeah, I just enrolled a couple days ago." But hadn't showed up yet. I had sent a letter from 'my mother' saying that I was still adjusting to the new town and wouldn't be able to come to school.
