the joker is going to save them ( once again) from a visiouse beast attacking them and accidently put them in another realm.. something along those lines i think..

(So you mean the beast was going to attack them before and now they're in a different realm? Or the King is using them for his own games and will have the beast hunt them, which could be why they're all athletes, so he could see the competition and fight for survival in the game, and then when the Joker tries to save them from the beast they will be transported into yet a different realm?
