Ian: I lean back on my hands, looking away from her. "Fine. He asked me if i cared about you." I hesitate, "And I said...yes. A lot." I add quietly, looking over at where my violin was.

Ian: I smile to myself, leaning toward her. "That's good for me then." I whisper before pressing my lips to hers. I smile against her lips when she jumps a little.

Ian: I pulled her into my lap, careful of her ribs. My fingers ran through her hair as my lips brushed along her jaw line.

ember: god this felt nice. i relaxed and ran my fingures through his soft hair. i heard jason walk in. crap. i pulled away, and looked at jason.
Jason: i started at her. what the hell did she think she was doing? she just met this guy, and she was in his lap.

Ian: I open my mouth to say something, looking between Ember and Jason. "Um, h-hey..?" I manage with a sheepish half smile.

jason: "Ember. room. now. i need to talk with you." i said softly, not tearing my gaze from her.
ember: i nodded, no use with arguing with him. "Be right back." i whispered to Ian. i walked into my room, and jason closed the door behind us.
"What the hell are you thinking?" he asked me. "You barely know the guy!"
"i know him enough." i told Jason. i could tell that he was mad, but why? it was my life, i trusted ian, he should trust my choices.
he took a deep breath. "Just be careful. i dont-"
"Want to see me get hurt. i understand." i sighed. "i will be careful, i promise." he looked at me.
"Fine." he sighed, knowing that i wouldnt give in. he opened the door and i walked back over.
"Sorry 'bout that. Jason being slightly protective again."

Ian: I shake my head, grabbing a shirt from of the desk -- let's just say i traveled back to N.C. to grab a few more things to wear -- and pulling it over my head. "He has the right to be. I mean, we hardly know each other." I avoided her gaze.

Ember: i walked back into my room, and saw a package on the bed. walking over i sat down. there were two letters there. one from me, and one for ian. i reconized Jason's handwriting.
Emmi-
Happy Birthday. i know your birthday was like a month ago, but count this as a gift for every birthday i have missed. THis is also a good bye card. You will allways be my little sister. I'll miss you, maybe we will see each other again, who knows.

Ian: I walk in -- with a shirt on this time -- "Hey, so do you--" I freeze when i see that she's crying again. I hurry over to her, rubbing her tense shoulders as they shake. "Hey, I'm right here. what's wrong?" i ask quietly.

Take care of Ember. Its not safe for me to be around her, but dont tell her that. Dont let anyone hurt her, and keep her away from her dad.

Ian: Oh great. Now i got the responsibility i was so happy to be sharing. I sigh, folding the paper up and sticking it in the back pocket of my jeans. I turn back to Ember, taking her gently up in my arms. "Don't be sad. If you don't cheer up soon, you'll force me to start singing. And then your ears will bleed and no one's happy. Got it?" i look her in the eye with a small light half smile.

Ian: I swallow down the lump forming in my throat, stroking her hair softly. "I won't," i say quietly, not sure how long i'd be able to keep that promise. "I don't want to leave you," i add, closing my eyes. Ever. i add in my head.
