Gray : i smiled sadly at her. Smiling was always a little hard for me...xero had said it was because my eyes were always so hostile looking..like that of a wild wolf that smiling just didn't fit sometimes..i looked away. "I was brought her by my master. The chairman took me in. You know he adopted Xero right? He adopted me too....although Xero and i use different last names. Both our names our legally Cross. " i shook my head to clear the memory of a nine year old Xero giggling at the thought of making her last name as pretty as the snow... "She was the one who took care of me. She took care of my wounds and she took care of my thoughts. she made me feel like i could keep living...that's why we're always together. She's like the sister i lost.."

Nell: I stared at Gray. I didn't know what to say or do. Finally I put my hand on his. I didn't usually make contact with other people; I liked to keep my distance, but sometimes...sometimes you have to feel another person's skin to know that everything would be alright.

Sash: I walk down the hall trying to get Anala to smile. she looks really depressed. "Was the test results?" I ask quietly, noting the looks from a few of the others night-students. you could tell they were all like, "look, it's the Ryeder twins..."
it just makes me want to punch them harder. or maybe even cast a little curse.

Gray looked like he put a lot of effort into breakfast this morning and he really is a wonderful cook" Xero smiled, watching as Alec finally took a gentlemanly bite of the meat Gray had prepared. Xero held her breath for a moment, hoping it would please him somehow. She was rewarded by one of Alec's gentle smiles, the ones that sent her heart into a frenzy. "You're right. He is an excellent cook, Xero. "
