I come to her aid, steadying her with an arm around the waist. I lead her to the stairs stopping, not sure of her shaky frame and the twelve stairs leading to the bed rooms. "Can you make it?" I asked, the alternative would be to carry her.

Alice nodded, "P-Probably." She said with uncertainty. She probably couldn't but she didn't want to show her weakness, not at all. Even though she already had with Jac. She sighed, "Maybe, Maybe not."

"NO chances." I say definitively, scooping her up in my arms and taking her up the stairs to my guest bed room, fully furnished but simple. I lay her gently on the bed. "Do you need anything?"

I run a hand through my hair. "Alright, well if you do my room and study are right down the hall." I say, walking to the doorway I stop. "Goodnight alice." I say, walking out.

Alice smiled, "Goodnight Jac." She said quietly, even though he couldn't hear her. She then very silently added, "Thank you." She closed her eyes, curling into a slight ball and fell asleep.

I walk to my study across the hall. I sit in the worn leather seat for a bit, shuffling through bills from the bakery before sighing, unable to concentrate. Not long I'm heading to my room, to stare at the ceiling most the night.

Alice whimpered slightly, the most horrible dream starting to invade her sleep. She would either wake up in a cold sweat, shaking violently, or be screaming bloody murder. She never remembered what happened in the dream, and she guessed that would be a good thing.

Alice uncurled from her ball form, rolling to her back with a pained look on her face. She tried so hard to wake up but nothing happened. She was too deep in the sleep to wake up.

Yawning I rise from bed, still late at night but unable to sleep I decide to go to the kitchen for a late snack, shuffling in my plaid pants I stop outside the cracked door of Alice's room, frowning as I hear noise. "Alice?" I ask quietly not wanting to wake her up if she's sleeping. Seeing her sprawled out in bed I see her expression and walk swiftly to her. "Alice." I say stronger placing a hand on her shoulder, "Alice wake up."

Alice started screaming bloody murder, the dream terrorizing her. Tears streamed from her eyes.

I run a hand through her damp hair, pushing it from her face. I offer a relieved smile to see she was a wake. "Alice? Are you alright?" I ask.

I pulled Alice close, not knowing what to do. I held her head to my chest, trying to calm her down. "Shhh." I whisper, rocking back and forth slightly, letting her settle on her own.

Alice sobbed into Jac's chest, her body shaking with every cry of despair that left her. The dream terrified her, it always had. She sometimes wished that she knew what happened in it, but most of the time. She didn't want to remember if it scared her that much.

"Its alright Alice." I say soothingly, not letting her go, "It was just a dream, your awake now." I keep my voice low as my imagination conjures up thoughts of what could make her scream like this. "Your safe now." I tag on, wanting to embed that fact.

Alice buried her face in Jac's chest, whispering, "It's scary." Her voice came out petrified and small, almost sounding like a scared little girl's voice.

She told the truth. "I-I can't remember. Every time I have that dream, I can't remember what happens. But its something awful, that's all I know."

Alice looked up at him with fearful bloodshot eyes that were scared but she trusted him. "OKay." She then hugged him tightly, burying her face in his chest.
